Hello folks, I just picked up a triple mint 52-2, like new in box (really) ser #TFC32xx. Just today I stripped it for a cleaning and inspection. The innards are pristine, but the barrel has me wondering. There is an irregular "ring" around the barrel, almost like a smudge, but you can feel a slight difference when you run your finger over it. I have inspected the inside and the lands, grooves etc are all fine, no sign of a crack, just bright shiny bore.Is this some kind of a repair ?
S&W 52-2 Barrel issue ?

Chemical stain/discoloration during the manufacturing process...
The barrel exteriors are plated..Your barrel just has a blemish..
Otherwise, that has virtually no wear marks..Nice find..
