Classifieds question
For you guys who've sold stuff in the TT Classifieds (or others):
Has anyone who requested photos of your sale items EVER bought what you were selling?
Comment?

Re: Classifieds question
With all due respect, sometimes it seems you have too much spare time..................................
Re: Classifieds question
You're probably right, but I still don't like it wasted by "tire-kickers".

Re: Classifieds question
I buy for our club. I have several requests for pictures that have not been answered. If you post them up front, it saves everyone lots of time. If you don't want to sell it bad enough to post pictures in the original post, you don't want to sell it. Don't worry about the trolls, if you don't post pictures, you will not sell it. Just my opinion.
Re: Classifieds question
I've sold two stocks, a couple sights, and a variety of other bits and pieces through the classifieds here. I've gotten many requests for pictures, especially before I discovered the power of Imgur and started posting them up front. While I don't get an offer from everyone who asks for photos, I usually get an offer from some of them.
As a buyer, no photos = no offer from me. If you want to sell it to me, then I require a photo or two, especially if you aren't someone I've bought from before. There are a handful of people here who I will buy from on their word alone, but those are people I've either met in person, done a fair amount of business with previously, or both.

Re: Classifieds question
I've requested photos and purchased items - I've also lost interest after seeing the photos.

Rover what are you trying to sell?
Do you have any photo's?
Why not just post the photos, to begin with?
Then you don't have to worry about lookers.
Seems simple to me.

Re: Classifieds question
I like to browse the "Buy, Sell, Trade".
Sometimes I buy something or turn my friends onto it.
Just simple observation tells me that the folks asking for photos rarely (if ever) buy.
Suppose you tell me why that is.

Ah, yes, "simple observation" - usually leads to the bias-confirming conclusion one is looking for in the first case.Rover wrote:I like to browse the "Buy, Sell, Trade".

Re: Classifieds question
At a guess? People primarily ask for photos because the seller has failed to post any photos at all, or inadequate photos which don't properly show the condition of the airgun. If the seller had shown just modest interest in engaging in the act of actual salesmanship he/she would have posted halfway decent photographs, precluding most requests for further photographic evidence of the make/model/condition of said airgun.Rover wrote:Just simple observation tells me that the folks asking for photos rarely (if ever) buy.
Suppose you tell me why that is.
If a would-be buyer requests photos from a would-be seller who has actually bothered to post adequate photos, then there ought to be a specific reason mentioned, such as a particular angle so as to understand better a grip/stock contour, or to see a scratch or worn area from a better viewpoint. If such is not the case, if they're just asking for 'more for more's sake', then the requester is a time waster and should be ignored.
Beyond that, I'd suggest that anyone complaining about the plain fact that most lookyloos or whatever you want to call them don't actually buy after kicking the tires is either ignorant of the general nature of sales in our culture, or is a whiny little bitch. Which one are you?
Re: Classifieds question
You mean there are actually ignorant whiny bitches on this site?
Re: Classifieds question
Damn straight! Watch out, they're sneaky.
Re: Classifieds question
I have to say, I have tried it three ways, lots of pictures, one picture waiting for requests for more. and text only to see if they will ask for pictures.
in my experience, people who ask for more pictures are time wasters/non buyers. They are only interested in the gun porn aspect of it.
Anddddddd you would be suprised how any people want pictures of a common guns..... a 99% FWB is a 99% FWB ..... if you don't know what a mint condition FWB Model 65 looks like...... you have no business owning one.

Re: Classifieds question
Hmmm.... There has been more than once on this site that something was not as it was listed as evidenced by the pictures. Happens fairly regularly with Anschutz target rifles...
