NEW BARREL?
A shooter with real US Olympic Team prospects has decided he needs a new barrel for his 1913 mostly because his prone scores haven't been what he expects. He's considering something a little offbeat - Benchmark 3-groove with 16 1/2 twist. Anybody have any comments? Mike Barron
Re: NEW BARREL?
I have a 1913 action that was rebarreled with a 2-groove, 16 1/2 twist Benchmark. The barrel was threaded in the action. I had excellent results with this rifle at the Eley test range. The best Tenex lot gave me 12.6mm average and a consolidated score of 427.5. Needless to say, I am very happy with my Benchmark !

Re: NEW BARREL?
I'm considering exactly the same barrel for my 1813 as I've discovered the UK importer for Benchmark isn't far from me. Does anyone have any comments/input on 3 groove vs 5 groove, I'm struggling to make a decision on which one to purchase.
Thanks

Re: NEW BARREL?
I have a 2 groove Benchmark barrel, and I'd say I'm only "satisfied" with it. It's on a Win52. The reasons I'm not really happy are primarily related to customer service and attention to detail (they did a real hack job fitting my bloop tube to the new barrel). But, I sent my action to them for installation, so if you have a trusted smith to do the fitting for you, I see no reason why it would be great.

M,
I put a 16.5 T 3 groove on my 1600x action and it shoots very well. No issues, no complaints.
