Looks like a carbon barrel sleeve similar to the Walther LP400 carbon.

I could understand adding a CF sleeve (either a hard forced fit or using an adhesive of course or it would contribute nothing) if the K12 had a problem with barrel weakness. Or perhaps someone wanting to make their K12 lighter might turn down the outside diameter of the barrel then fit a stiffening CF tube, resulting in a lighter fore-end with similar barrel stiffness. But the K12 barrel has no such problem. Adding a CF tube simply increases the weight of the front end slightly, and offers the appearance of a CF barrel if that's your thing. I see no point in this beyond looks. And since there's nothing wrong with the appearance of the K12... there's no point.
