Matchguns MG2R dampening rod question

Post by deadeyedick »

Matchguns MG2R has four dampening rods/springs accessible from the front of the counterweight. Below those four are two more slightly larger plugs however there is nothing behind but an empty space.
Does anyone know if there are optional weights/springs available for further dampening or if they are simply for lightening of the weight and/or possibly adding extra weight if the owner feels it necessary.

MG2RF

Deadeyedick,

I bought a MG2 several years ago and upgraded to Rapid Fire shortly thereafter. I have the alloy front weight and I found that the front was still a bit too light. So, I opened those empty spaces and put in two .32 caliber blunt nose jacketed bullets on each side to give me a little more weight up front. I had to trim a little lead off each bullet to get them to fit just right without any movement. Now the balance is just perfect.

Unfortunately, my eyesight is not what it used to be and I cannot take advantage of what a great gun the MG2RF is.

It is like shooting .22 LR ammo with the muzzle jump of a .22 Short.
