Ammo Source for CMP/Distinguished Competetion 45cal

Post by djtjr »

Guys new guy here and wanting to get into this game. I have a clark custom and wanted to see what you all thought was the best source for ammo for 45 in bullseye? I know reloading is probably the way to go but i do too much rifle reloading already and at this point its time on the range vs time reloading and i rather be on the range till i have the skill set with a handgun to really be able to tell the difference. I am not looking for cheap stuff to put rounds down range (though obviously a good price or at least value would be nice) but instead looking for match quality 45 bullseye ammo. Do you have any recommendations?
thanks and all the best,
Don

.45 ACP Match Ball

Federal GM45A for competition, Winchester White Box for training. I'm sure others will suggest alternatives.

Hi Don,

The title of your post was CMP/Distinguished, so I am assuming you are looking for CMP legal ammo, as opposed to "bullseye" ammo which typically would be semi-wadcutter bullets.

One source I am aware of is Atlanta Arms (www.atlantaarmsand ammo.com). They have a 230gr ball match load, and their JHP Nosler 45 load is very highly rated.

I personally shot the Federal GM45A ammo, but that was more years ago that I care to admit.

Another good source for ammo, is Zero bullets.

Yes, their online order system shows them out of stock, you need to call.
