Toz not firing: accelerator problem (solved)

I would appreciate any help with the following issue. When the cocking lever is depressed it pushes upwards on the firing pin accelerator and locks the accelerator there, as I presume it is supposed to do. However depressing trigger does not release it and nothing happens for a few seconds to a few minutes until the gun "fires" on its own. The accelerator then returns to its normal decocked position. What is going on?

Try a good cleaning before anything else.

Well, cleaning accelerator assembly would not be an easy task in itself. But no, the gun previously came from a gunsmith who replaced some broken parts, so that would not be an issue.

It took me over an hour to disassemble it and figure out how it all works, but the issue was rather simple in retrospect. In case people run into the same problem: the limiter (#13 from the manual, http://www.pilkguns.com/tenp/sptoz35.htm) was catching on the accelerator (#43), which is not very surprising as the limiter screw tends to turn its leaf towards the accelerator, so you have to pay attention to leave some space between the two to make sure the accelerator runs unobstructed.

it is good if you clean your gun on regular basis, especially after shooting. Cleaning a gun will make improve working and life of a gun. I prefer to use Kleen-Bore cleaning kits or BreakFree-Foaming Bore Cleaner help make cleaning the accelerator, bore and other parts easily.

Scott, are you sure we talk about the same "accelerator" as referenced in the gun's manual? Access to and cleaning of accelerator and surrounding parts is only possible if you remove the big lever #11 that sits on the top of it. That goes well beyond normal "field stripping". Also the way Toz is designed, the accelerator assembly is well insulated from the falling block assembly and extractor both of which indeed need regular cleaning. But after my several years with this gun the accelerator assembly was still clean even when some parts broke down. If anything preventing rust would be a bigger concern than after-shoot cleaning.
