Shooter Classification Question

I just shot my first 60 shot 10 meter event, non-postal, scoring 505 giving an average score per target for the five target sheets of 101. Is 101 the number that it used to determine class for competition. I understand the need for more events to have an official class. Just want to be clear on the standard used. Thanks.

I would have thought it would be 505/6=84.17 (unless things are done differently in the US)

To the OP's defense - I would guess he fired 3 shots per bull on four bull targets. So since he fired 12 shot strings he didn't think about 10 shot strings. Not bad math just inexperience.

If my answer sounded sarcastic then I apologise, it was not supposed to be.
I actually meant that you would normally have a 10 shot (or 60 shot) average but it is possible that some organisations do things differently.

Brian, it goes by percentage.
If I am wrong, someone please correct me.

your score of 505 divided by a possible score of 600 equals 84.17 %

NRA...
MA=93. and above
EX=88. to 92.99
SS=82. to 87.99
MK=below 82.

USAS...
AA=92. and above
A=88. to 91.99
B=84. to 87.99
C=78. to 83.99
D=77.99 and below

It looks like 84.17, so it depends on who sanctioned the match for what the class will be, but yes, 84.17 is the number.

Did that. It doesn't explain how the numbers are arrived at, at least not that I saw, but being human I may have missed it. Thanks for the explanation.

Average of your last 3x60 shots.

For example, my last three matches were 539+545+538=1622 divided by a possible 1800 which = 90.11%

That puts me in "A" class for USAS and "EX" for NRA.

Maybe I missed your question, but the above is what I know to tell you.

Until you have a few 60 shot matches under your belt, you are UC until you meet the criteria.

If this does not answer your question, then ask again.

Answered quite well. Thanks. I understand that I need three matches to have an "official" classification although with one more next month that should give an indicator. My personal best in a 60 shot postal is 529 so I'll be very happy if I can stay in the 505-525 range the next few outings and just continue to improve. Again, thanks.
