Anschutz 2002 Alu

A Cabela's near me has a Anschutz 2002 Aluminum stocked air rifle for $1600 and I was wondering if this is a good price for it. It comes with 2 air tanks, bipod, Browning case, new 20 click Anschutz rear sight and front sight with several inserts. I would probably replace the 4759 buttplate with a MEC or Gehmann if I bought it. Does this seem like a good price for a lightly used rifle? Also, would this rifle be suitable for collegiate air rifle? I would hate to have to purchase another air rifle a few years down the road for college if I end up shooting in college. Thanks.

For what it's worth the bluebook of airguns says at 100% condition for a 2002 Alu is $1600 and 90% is $1125... 80% is $925. These were made from 2000 to 2006. I think you can get a better deal on something else. Also, if you spend $1600 plus tax by the time you add a butt plate for a couple of hundred dollars you are in the $1800 to $1900 range on this rifle.

I'd say a reasonable price on the one you are looking at is $1000 to $1200.... but you don't know if the cylinders hold air and how the seals in the rifle are are...

Check the dates on the air cylinders.
I think if they are over 10 years old, you may/will have to buy new ones (NOT cheap), as I think there is a 10 year limit on air cylinders. At least if the matches you compete in follow ALL the ISSF rules.

I do not compete, so the 10 year rule does not bother me.

1600 is Model 8002 kinda money. Way too much for a 2002. With Walther LG300/400, FWB 700, and 8002s on the used market, 2002s are getting less desirable. They lack dryfire, and as was said rebuild and potentially new cylinders are needed. I owned one for years, but I feel the newer models are truly an upgrade.
