Extra small grips on standard pistol, air pistol

Post by PaulB »

I would like to know people's opinion on which ISSF standard pistol and air pistol of current manufacture has the smallest available commercial grips (not custom). Over the years I have had a number of very small handed young ladies (usually Asian women, around 5' tall and weighing 90-100 pounds) try to use what are listed as "small" grips, but they are still too big. I note that Pardini SP, Feinwerbau AP's, Steyr AP's list an available grips as XS but I wonder if they are truly "extra small". Morini AP lists an XX Small grip for an across the hand dimension of 75mm. What is your experience?

I have a LP10E with XS size grip, which is the smallest one. My hand is about 75mm across knuckles.
At least for my hand this grip has quite good fit. I have not compared it with any other grip of similar size, but the following possible issues come to mind:
-The grip is quite "square" at the rear between thumb and trigger finger, in my opinion. There is not much material to remove from the grip in this area.
-Trigger reach may be an issue for someone with short fingers.
-I believe that the grip cannot be pivoted to any direction without modifying it. Grip seems to be a tight fit against the pistol frame and again there is not much material to remove if needed.
I have not tried to modify or pivot the grip so my comments may be inaccurate.

From what I have heard FWB P44 should have small frame and if I remember correctly is available with XXS and XS morini grips.

See your manual.

And check this out:

Watch both these videos:
Adjusting the grip
and
Removing and re-mounting the grip

It doesn't matter if it electronic or mechanical for this part. They have the same adjustment.

Hope this helps
