Morini 162El - now many shots from full cylinder?

I bought a used Morini 162El. Seems to be in excellent shape. Shoots well.

I am filling the cylinders to 200 Bar. I then get about 80 shots before it won't allow another shot . Is this normal? Manual indicates that it should go 200 shots?

Tried a brand new cylinder get same thing.

Tested the guns velocity and it is shooting around 505 fps with about a 5 fps spread which seems spot on.

How many shots are you getting from a full cylinder before it locks up?

As you say, your velocity is in the right ball park.

I certainly get 150+ from full length cylinders. Are yours full length or compact.

What pressure have you got left when it locks up.

The cylinders are full length. The manometer is slightly into the yellow area when it locks up.

This happens with all three cylinders, two have the newer color coded manometers. The third one labeled 20 year max with 02.00 date has no color coding, just a yellow face plate going from 0 bar/psi to 300/4300. It has two dividing lines. A 200 bar fill moves the pointer to the second dividing line.

I'm suprised that you are going from the upper line to just below the lower line with just 80 shots.

I have just had a look at one of my cylinders that I know has fired 75 shots.

It started below the 200bar line but is still about a third of the way between the lines.

At first I was suspicious that the cylinders were leaking so I bought the new cylinder but that had no effect.

Then I thought that maybe the velocity was too high so I chrono tested it and got the 505 fps result.

The gun is still usable and shoots well just not getting as many shots as I thought it should.

Maybe it is time to send it in for a "tuneup"?

It could be leaking while on the gun, i.e through the regulator. I had a 2nd hand one that did that, I sent it off for a service, after trying and failing to remove the regulator myself.

Fill and attach a cylinder then seal the whole pistol in a large zip-lock plastic bag with as much air sucked out of it as possible. If you have access to one, use one of those vacuum sealers which people use to vacuum pack food before freezing (but it’s no big deal if you haven’t). Leave it for a day or two and see if the bag inflates. You can also try sealing the individual cylinders into bags in the same manner and you should be able to determine whether the leak (if there is one) is directly from a cylinder or if it is through the pistol.
