What is winter airgun and how do you qualify? Can't find much on USA Shooting website...

Winter Airgun (used to be called 3XAIR) is a 3 day air match (both pistol & rifle) that is also sometimes used as part or the whole of a selection match - mimics an Olympic Trials.

It is almost always held over the first full weekend in December ... this year 5-8. Many times the shooters are offered the opportunity to stay onsite at the OTC for room & meals for a fairly inexpensive cost.
(Yeah ... you'll probably share the dorm room with 2 other shooters, but you cannot beat the price and you don't have to worry about driving around the town)

It is an open event, meaning any USA Shooting member may participate. If you are not a member --- join and you are good to go.

For juniors who are looking at impressing NCAA coaches this is a good match as many show up with some of their team members and are "on the lookout".

My best guess is that the program should be out and on the USA Shooting website by October and you will be able to register via Railstation.

Be aware ... if you are looking at travel this early that Colorado winters sometimes start early, so plan on flexibility. Also, Colorado Springs airport is notorious for not allowing air rifle/pistols cylinders to fly out. Best bet is to plan on shipping them to/from the USAS OTC unless you are driving.

If you are a smallbore rifle shooter another match to watch for is the Rocky Mountain Rifle Championships in early February.

Last year it was $120 for the match entry fee per event (either rifle or pistol)
Rooms at the OTC are usually about $50/night (may have gone up)
