Youth Mats...best solution?

So...as we progress to getting our 6 888s working....I was going to buy some mats from MidwayUSA. $29 mat will cost $60 to ship 6 of them. Hummmm.

I am not excited about it so I killed the order. Off to Walmart & Dicks to look at Yoga Mats.

Any tips from the experts? We are a beginner team so....we are on a beginner budget.

Some of my kids still use Yoga mats ... nothing wrong with them.
For the older kids they may be a bit narrow, but no big deal there.

I agree with JHMartin. We bought cheap yoga mats on clearance for $5 ea. They work well for the juniors. They won't last as long as a good mat, but work as a low cost alternative.

I agree with the others Jud. Inexpensive exercise mat to begin with. Get the kids hooked and then get the parents to purchase better equipment as they progress. When the junior's age out of the program, hopefully the parents will donate the used equipment.

Utility foam mating from Sam's and many other stores. Eight 2'x2' pieces for $22. For most small kids 2 pieces is enough, use 3 for taller kids. Great for at the home range but does not roll-up or fold-up for travel.

Some of our beginners use their sleeping bags or a thick beach towel.

We've used carpet mats. The cheap ones doubled up. Covered by material. Canvas or something similiar. Then just sew the edges shut. Carpet shops usually have the mats left over from jobs.

exercise equipment mat. Larger, last well, dense foam. I sometimes still use one under my mat.
