Junior Olympics Rules?

Post by rifleshooter3 »

Does anyone know what rules will govern at the JOs this year because the time given on the match program is normal (old rules) and no more additional information is given. Does this mean that the old rules will also be used in regard to the new clothing and finals rules? Thanks!

NJOSC will follow USAS 2012 rules. I've seen it a dozen times just can't think where right this instance.

If your shooter got an invite packet, check the match program .. section RULES.
2012 USA Shooting Rules will govern this championship. Certain 2013 rules will be incorporated but the rules in their entirety will not be used. A separate notification will be sent to specify which rules will be used. All competitors are responsible for compliance with the USA Shooting Rules. There will be a mandatory rulebook clinic at which rule books will be provided (included in entry fee) which includes General Rules, Technical Rules and your specific discipline. All clinics will be mandatory.
There have been no addendums/notifications as of 3/2/2013.
Plan on 2012 format (Prone-Standing Kneeling)
I think we have convinced Tyler that we want the shooters to use the same gear they qualified with, so don't expect the clothing changes (jacket/pants/boots). He saw the madhouse of an equipment check at the Winter Airgun match, and we let him know that JO's is only about 3X more jumbled.

MAYBE something like the "new" height of the offhand stand ... no part of the stand higher than the shooters shoulder while in the shooting position with the rifle ... (i.e. probably about 3-4" lower than now), but I doubt even that really.

Will that include finals? New finals, start from zero, 3P in SB? Or old finals?

Personally I'd love the new finals.

But that really needs extra training that I'd argue we don't have time for.
Plan on 2012 Finals (my guess)

Bummer, Elizabeth really likes the new finals. We have been training for it. I guess she will be ready when they do adopt the new format.
