Passing of Efim Khaidurov

Post by jliston48 »

Sad news!

I just heard that Efim Khaidurov passed away aged 87.

Probably one of the most influential people in ISSF shooting history. He was the designer of the TOZ-35 (many medals and records won with this pistol) and TOZ-36 (only became superceded by the 32 autos for centre fire). His ideas directly and indirectly influenced the designs of many other top quality target pistols - including the yet-to-be-seen SP-08 on which the Feinwerkbau AW-93 was based.

So the next "10" you shoot with your TOZ 35 or 36, say, "That's one for you, Efim".

His is an interesting story - a top shooter, coach (look up his coaching videos on Youtube - he liked the roll-off type trigger - my hero!) and designer who never received the recognition he deserved in his native Russia - or anywhere else.

One would hope that something is done to preserve his name - like a Khaidurov Trophy, etc.

I'm sorry to hear of his passing.

Let the many TOZ 35's still out there winning competitions as well as bringing newbies into the sport be his memorial.
