new sling

Post by dontshootcritters »

Hi guys.
Im interested in purchasing a new sling.I shoot prone only.I had one of the MEC slings but it tore through the rivots on the arm strap[it had the thicker strap]so wont be going there again.I do like the idea of the main strap self centering when tension is applied.I was considering one of the new Truttman options. One has a synthetic strap the other a wire type rope to hold the rifle.Has anyone had any experience with these please?

Thank you in advance

I have one with the wire strap.

I like the sling. The ratcheting mechanism for fastening the arm loop works really well. The only problem is that the wire wears out rather quickly. Truttmann recommends replacing it every year. After a couple of months of use, I can see what they mean. The wire can be replaced and i ordered some spares with mine. But I haven't figured out how to do it.

I would go with the version without the wire if I had to do it again.

Ordering directly from Truttmann is a pain as they only accept band transfers, which is very expensive relative to the cost of the sling. Fortunately, Grunig and Elmiger sells them, and they accept credit cards, as long as you can navigate their all-German online shop.

Hi there.Well thanks for the reply.Having said that I think a year is pretty stink for product wear .I was told by Bleiker staff that they make the components and Truttman stich everything together so it doesnt seem right that Grunig sell them also?
Heres hoping that they are a better option than another big name product of the same idea that has had many failures!!
