Question about position of compensator on AP barrel

Post by ilionkid »

On my newly purchased Tau 7 Match the compensator cone is mounted within 1/64" of the end (crown) of the barrel (in other words virtually flush). Stapled into the back cover of the manual is an unlabeled diagram of the compensator position re the end of the barrel. This shows the cone being 11 +0.2 -0.7 forward of the crown. Is this the recommended ie optimum position or just the most forward that it can be mounted?
The second question concerns the alignment of the compensator false muzzle with the axis of the barrel. How do you ensure that the pellet doesn't shave lead entering the compensator? Has anyone reamed the ID larger or chamfered the entrance? Thanks in advance.
