Cutting Clamping Base on Anschutz 7002 Rearsight

Hi guys, looking for feedback here. Have just acquired an Anschutz 7002 but the clamping base is very long, and to get it where I want it it hangs way over the loading port, blocking my fingers and making loading inconvenient. Has anyone ever cut it down to the front of the anti-glare tube without any adverse ramifications?

I've had mine cut off at just in front of the cant tube for over 15 years with no I'll effects.
