Toz 35 Markings

Post by SLJumper »

I recently acquired a used Toz 35M Free Pistol in very good condition. Does anyone have a good reference which would help me determine which Russian arsenal it originated from and its date of manufacture? From the few close up photos I could find on the Internet it appears some are marked "Made in USSR" and others in "...CCCP."

IIRC, TOZ is an acronym for Tula Arms Factory, and CCCP is Russian for USSR.

The units that say " made in USSR" ar export models, CCCP is domestic model and sales.

My TOZ came with a manual that had the mnf date of 1966 ... it's not the "M" and I don"t know when they started making the "M" ... easily discernable by the front sight band around the barrel. Mine just has the front site on the barrel, no band around barrel. Trigger still great, shoots where aimed .... shooter needs work. :-)

The toz35 actually does have a band around the barrel for the front sight. if you look close on some you can tell the band is there and it is the same diameter as the barrel.
