thumbhole stock in sporter

I have read the 3P CMP rules and can't find anything that discusses thumbhole stocks being legal or illegal. Only that the stock must be usable for left and right hand shooters. My question is on the AR2078 air riflles t keep cost down and still be CO2. I know that 853, 753, 953 rifles are available, but thought this rifle would be lightweight and fairly cheap.

The issue is in CMP that rifle is not an approved sporter, the mfgr could submit it, but that process takes a year or more to approve.

In terms of the NRA .... I cannot remember if the one I bought (many years ago) has a symmetrical stock.

Compasseco used to state that this was a sporter rifle under approval, but to my knowledge, they never submitted this for approval to either the CMP or NRA.

I finally mounted a scope on it & gave it to my dad so he could choot the voles ripping up his yard in northern NM. Was pretty accurate and the double 12 gram cylinders could easily get a shooter thru a 3x20 match

4.2.1 Approved Rifles
Air Rifles officially approved for Sporter Class air rifle competitions are the AirForce Air Guns Edge, Crosman CH2000 (CO2), Crosman CH2009 (CO2 or compressed air), Daisy M853/753/953/853CM (pneumatic), Daisy 888/887 (CO2), Daisy XSV40 Valiant (compressed air) and the Air Arms T200 (compressed air) with a non-adjustable cheek-piece and buttplate.

The springers (and any other air rifle not specifically listed in 4.2.1) would be considered, and can be fired, in the precision category as long as it meets those specifications.

Now all that said, Rule 4.2.1 allows (as a sporter gun):

At competitions below the national championship level, competition directors may authorize the use of other lighter, lower-cost air rifles provided that only .177 cal. pellets are fired in them at velocities of less than 600 fps.

I also think that they would not allow any records set with that rifle unless already approved and listed.

So if you can demonstrate to a match director that the rifle fires below 600 fps, and convince him to let you fire it in a match, OK. But I'd contact the match director at least two weeks before the match for testing & convincing.

(A few years ago I had one of my shooters fire a prototype Crossman CH2009 in a match before it was approved, but he was specifically placed out of competition ... we all wanted to see how the gun would perform)

Does thumbhole give pistol grip special shaping to hold the hand?
4.2.4 (near the end) states "The cheek-piece or pistol grip may not be anatomically formed (special shaping to fit or hold the hand or fingers)."
