yesterday at the range, an older gentlemen asked my son and I why we don't use a pellet sizer for his air rifle? I did not have an answer from him. I had my sons air rifle tested for pellets this past summer at camp perry and bought two sleeves of Vogel pellets. He said he bought this pellet sizer 30 plus years ago from Beemans. You just place a pellet it the hole and push down the plunger. The die inside shapes the pellet to the size of the interchangeable die

pellet sizer

I don't think you should resize good pellets that have been tested with the specific rifle/pistol. Sizers used to be more common, especially helpful when having to use low cost softer lead pellets. The skirts on many weren't truly round but more lobsided. The sizer made the skirts round again so accuracy improved.
Using higher quality pellets avoids most of this problem. Some shooters inspect their pellets ahead of time & discard any that are questionable.

could this be why some of my pellets are a tight fit and some slide in the chamber easier?PCU wrote:... The skirts on many weren't truly round but more lobsided. The sizer made the skirts round again so accuracy improved...
perhaps i should try some of these Vogel pellets i have been trying a variety of the RWS recently.
There have been several posts on this subject. The bottom line is: the damned things do not work. I did my own tests and was also told by the manufacturer (Don Nygord). They were only sold because people bought them.
