About a year ago I was fortunate to get my hands on an old and non-functioning original Airrifle 10m Running Target automated/electronic target system.

After extensive research I found that this target system was manufactured in 1994 for the 1996 US Olympic Airrifle shooting team. And it spent most of its early life at the PRADO Olympic Shooting range in Southern California. It finally ended up in the possession of the BEEMAN Airrifle Company where it was used extensively for special events and promotions and in-house shooting and testing. When the Huntingdon Beach Beeman offices and factory shut down and relocated in 2010, I was fortunate to be offered the target for purchase.

I spent a good many hours restoring the target, repairing the electronics, replacing a few missing parts and repainting the whole thing back to its Olympic glory.

Suffice to say that it is now working perfectly and to the original exacting Olympic standards of trolley speed, timing, starting and stopping etc.

The target trolley runs on custom built sled, which holds the paper target.

A quite motor powers the steel line pulley system up and down the aluminum I bar track.

Sophisticated electronics stop the target exactly in front of a video camera which records the shot and displays it 10 Meters away on the remote monitor.

Although the monitor is Black and White the target image is still pretty crisp and clear considering the age of the cameras and electronics.

The control system offers full speed control of the trolley automatic or manual operation, a variable timed delay between shots as well as a digital read out. There is 55 feet of cable between the target and the control box / monitor so plenty of extra cable if required or you just desire to shoot at longer than 10M distances.

Its a truly impressive target system of the highest quality steel and construction. The front and rear wall is heavy gauge steel plate and can handle pellets with ease. The rear wall is angled so that the pellets deflect downwards and are cleanly caught in the lower lead catch pans which are easily removable for cleaning.

Those of you familiar with the current CADWELL shooting gallery target system here is a picture showing the size comparison.

More suitable for rimfire but with either lighter paddles or by adjusting the angle of the feet so that airgun pellets can knock them down they are nice back yard targets.

Anyway its a rare training aid and one that was a lot of fun to restore.
