Taking nothing away from bullseye shooting, as I enjoy it greatly, but see if there's an Olympic trap facility near you. Bring or borrow any 28" or longer over/under or semiauto shotgun, and give it a try.
It might be the greatest challenge in all the shooting sports.

I tried shooting sporting clays once. Problem I had was, after having shot smallbore and high power rifle for 40 some odd years (stationary targets), I couldn't quite figure out how to shoot at a moving target. With time, I could make it happen, and it would be fun, but I am not there yet, due to lack of time.

Point, don't aim. Quite unlike paper punching, when you pull that trigger, your bead is frequently sighted on clear blue sky that the target is going to fly into.corning wrote:I tried shooting sporting clays once.
