Hammerli free pistol identification?
Can anyone tell me what model Hammerli this is? (see photo -- which is not my pistol but similar -- mine has slightly different grip) There are Olympic rings and the dates 1948 and 1952 on the receiver. I'm assuming it's a model used in the free pistol event of those Olympics, implying it was MFG between 1952 and 1956. SN is 30XX.
Judging by my July 1968 price list and catalog pages from Heinrick F Greider it's a Hammerli Model 107 free pistol (octagonal barrel). The Model 106 was with a round barrel. The price was $280 for the Model 106 and $360 for the Model 107. The1968 catalog states that these were an improvement with a new set trigger. It also has a list of records with this pistol going from 1947 in Caracas to 1964 in Tokyo. Hope that helps.

yes, octagonal barrel thx
TonyT -- Thanks very much, yes, my pistol has an octagonal barrel and a set trigger.... must be the 207, thank you very much. Also I appreciate the reference to Greider, which I will look up for further info!

There was a typo in my post. I corerected my posting. The two models were 106 and 107. The photo you posted appears to be the 107.
If you want a copy of the Greider info send me your e-mailaddress and I'll send you a copy.
