Palm Rest

Post by Tanktrek »

Does anyone still use the older anschutz or al freeland grip type palm rests.

Examples;
Anschutz model 4724
Al Freeland Mr. Cairo Grip.

And are the heal rests for the pistol grips on the older wooden stocks now prohibed.

I bought a new Al Freeland Mr. Cairo Grip a few years ago, so the still sell them. =I have the fully adjustable one, and it is nice. I shoot in a large local team league, and anything is legal, so I don't know the various rules.

Under ISSF rules:-

Not allowed for 300m Standard Rifle or 10m Air Rifle.

No problem for 300m Rifle or 50m Rifle.

Thanks for the response. The rules books leave alot to be desired as far as being clear.

Terry

I have one of those that came with my Winchester 52E International. Good design.
I also have the two that Anschutz came out with for my 1413's, one is similar to the Al Freeland design and the other is all wood except for the adjustable part that attaches to the rifle.

Just wondering why you do not see them being used much.

I have noticed that palm rest height has been getting shorter and shorter over the years.
I have no Idea why. I need a very tall palm rest and none of the factory ones are close to what I need.

Guys

Well I know now why I do not see the old palm rests being used much.
I had the opportunity to shoot another 1413 the other day with an Anschutz Palm Rest 4842. What a change, I was able to establish a better hold. I have to get one of these.
