MG5e vs. Morini 84e

Can anyone coment on the electric version of the Match Guns free pistol. Can you compare it to the Morini free pistol. Thanks, Dwaine

The Morini works and the MG5E is a piece of s**t

You would think they would work pretty much the same. I have seen a heap of people have all kinds of different problems with the MG5 ranging from trigger issues to snapping firing pins and everything in between.

I'm more curious than anything else if your assesment of the MG5 includes the Hammerli FP10 in with it? I was aware the FP10 had an unreliable trigger assembly. As for firing pins - really? Bad lot or a chronic issue.

I'm a fan of MG products, and have given thought to trying the MG5 and putting aside my Morini 84e for a while.

Not sure on the FP 10. I have never even seen one, let alone fired one. I have heard they had some trigger problems but I really can't elaborate.

I have tried the MG5e and witnessed the trigger problems first hand. It just flat out wouldn't work. Let alone that you could only make the max trigger weight about about 20g. I like my trigger weight at about 80g.

I know of about 4 or 5 people who have taken their MG5's back to the dealer after about 1,000 shots begging them to take the gun away from them.

I think the firing pins may have been a bad lot, as I haven't heard of that coming up for a while now.

There are a lot of quality FP's around at the moment. The Morini dominates, the Pfuff looks like a great pistol (not sure about the trigger design though,) Toz are still awesome and I am looking forward to seeing the Hammerli FP60

My MG5 works fine, but...
My extra electric trigger did not work at all! The vertical "post" that is going to make the shot go off is too high so one can not cock the pistol!!!
I have grinded it down 0, 5 mm so now it works most of the time. Need further grinding I suppose. Have contacted Match Gun but no help there so I guess that a MG4 will NOT be mine like I had planned.
The legs that come with the pistol are worthless!! They are not like on the FP10, steel, but a sort of soft plastic rods. Makes the pistol shake when the shot goes of and the follow through is lost completely
Hämmerli FP60 is not one that I recommend, have had one for several years.
Have had FP10, nice gun if trigger is OK
TOZ35M is best for the money; spare part may be a problem though.
Saving money for a new 84E have had two before....

MG5 is not so heavy and one can move the grip to an angle one like.
IF one is strong and know how to get the grip right then go for 84E.

And where are this 75 grams taken from? If it is taken from the front sight you might need to put it back :-) It is a question of balance and 84E is nice as is.

Why do these discussions never include the Pardini FP? They seem nicely built. Pardini air, standard and center fire pistols are accurate and reliable. But the free pistols are treated like ugly stepsisters? Why so?

I have seen a couple of the Free Pistols around and they do look pretty. I haven't tried one so I couldn't comment.

I don't think they have even actually been worth the price you pay for them. You can always get better for less and I think that's why not too many people have them.

I own a Morini, but I like the idea of adjustability of the Match Guns grip, since the electronis is not in the grip. I have not seen an electronic Pardini, does the grip have the ability to move? I have nothing against Pardinis per se as I own 4. Dwaine

I have both trigger units, have so far only used the mechanical one.
Due to the problems you are referring, I have to test the electronic unit some sunny day...hope it will work ok.
And, after considering for a while, I have decided not to comment upon your scenario...:-(

Yes. Just discard the rods. I use my MG5 less rods.

it has a lighter front sight carrier (-20gr) and the barrel holder is made of ergal istead of steal (-55gr)
