Fly in to Auckland.

Hamilton is about 1 1/2 hours south, an easy drive.

Neither! Fly to Dunedin and drive, inland, up the beautiful south island and then cross the strait, enjoying the Marlborough Sounds. Wonderful scenery. Take your time. Call it mental preparation!

Ok yes and don't forget to look at the Bay of Islands and take a four hour flight out into the Pacific for a sunset on the beach in the Cook Islands.

Reasonably easy.

Just complete this form:

http://www.pistolnz.org.nz/pdf/nzvisitorslicence.pdf

And then send it to Pistol New Zealand office.

This from Pistol NZ:

Be aware that you need to cosider pistol security when in NZ. Travel from AKL to Hamilton and back is fine and you can leave the pistols in the Armoury while the Nationals are on. But, if you want to have a look around at the fantastic scenery, you will NOT be carting your pistols with you in the boot of some old hack rental car. The Kiwi's didn't have a plan for that a couple of years ago - other than travel back to Auckland and lodge them with the police. Perhaps someone from Pistol NZ can expand on this?

If you want to do this, secure storage can be arranged without too much hassle. So long as there's prior notice given to the organiser.

The first step "think aboutit" would be to enter.
