I am a SB prone shooter. I recently got the opportunity to record my recoil trace with a Scatt, shooting live.
If you look at the picture (never mind the POI, it was not adjusted to centre), you will see a pretty high recoil jump. I don't experience it to be this big in position looking through the sights, but the Scatt shows something else. The pattern looks the same from shot to shot - it goes up and then down the very same way.
Compared to some other Scatt files from well known prone shooters, my recoil is very high. But the 'strange' thing is I have shot a 600 and some high 590's (shooting live, not on the Scatt) with the same setup of the rifle earlier this year. But also some low 580's... So I'm a bit confused here.
Should I be happy and let it be the way it is, and simply increase my level of practice? Or should I aim to reduce the jump? If so, any suggestions where to start? Add som weights? Adjust my handstop and sling?

You may find the gun isn't tight into your shoulder or you could see how much the gun moves when simulating a shot - have someone push on the barrel end when you're in position (obviously with a safe, unloaded gun). There shouldn't be much movement and it should feel solid to the guy doing the testing. It may be that it isn't and that recoil is kicking the gun up a modest amount.

I think Rob is onto something with the shoulder contact. Your hold is great, easily capable of shooting tens, but look where the recoil ends up. It is a couple of rings higher than the hold point. the position is disturbed by the recoil and the new (real?) natural point of aim is not the same place as the hold. It does seem to be quite a jump but it needs to be consistent and should return to your aim point. This isn't a 300 meter rifle!;>)

Thank you for good input! I will definitely check my buttplate+shoulder contact.
Marcus: Actually the red trace continues after the end you see in the picture, but I am not sure where the "final" end would be. But it sure looks to be higher than the aim point.
Does anyone know which parameter in the Scatt Otions menu prolongs the red recoil trace? Looks like it is set to 1 second right now.
