Correct Recoil Spring

Post by Ernie Rodriguez »

Approximately what weight recoil spring is suitable for a Hardball Gun that is going to be used with wad cutter ammo-200gr/3.8g BE powder. Is 12/14 lbs too light??? Thanks

Maybe a minimum weight should probably be about 14 pounds I have a 14 pond spring in both of my wad guns which both have a frame mounted dot and so it does not affect recoil. It really depends on what kind of a load you are using. Most hardball guns have 16 to 18 pound spring. If the spring is too light you will feel the slide hitting the frame when you fire the gun. There was a guy at Perry two points down from me in the hardball match. His brass was hitting me in the head. His spring was too light or his loads were too hot. Maybe both. Isabel.

Recoil Spring

Isabel-You are correct. I installed a 15lb spring and it worked perfectly with a 200gr LSWC and any reasonable target load using BE,S1000,WST,Clay,N310 or TG powder. Thanks
