Dont start Steve. Your condesention is not appreciated. I applaude the writting in this disertation because I agree with it and not because I agree with yours. We will never agree because we approach this problem from two different perspectives. Mine is practicle experience and yours seems to be theretically based. How do you prove that there is such a thing as subconcious firing of the shot. Can the subconcious jerk the trigger as hard as the concious can ? How about the subconcious flinch? Is it as destructive to the shot process as the concious flinch ? How can you prove either is true or untrue ? Subconcious is unknowable by defination to the concious mind. Take your best shot at these issues. Good Shooting Bill Horton
Bill..umm..I think he was kidding.
I was very surprised by your post because the Hitchhikers Guide has been around for a long time.
I really wish we could all agree there are many ways to see a solution to the same problem. We need to disagree on some things and commit to helping everyone shoot better so we all have fun.
WRT to the subconscious. I am sure you could go out and find 2 or more Dr's who are the most well respected in their profession and experts on the subconscious and you will as many opinions as you find Dr's.
Me, personally, I try not to over think some of this stuff because then it can hurt your performance. Sometimes knowing too much can have a negative impact on your performance regardless of the sport. I know part of the fun for some is learning all of the small details and talking about them here. I think that is great.
have a good one...

Ref subconcious support of shooting technique. I equiped my pistol box with a picture of properly alligned sights superimposed against a very fuzzy aiming area. I believe I was doing something ED Hall subscribes to as being helpful in telling the subconcious what you want it to help with. Did this help ? I really dont know the answer but my shooting did improve. I was also working on improving my stillness of hold at the same time and many hours of dry firing may have also contributed to the improvement. I also found that I seemed to be getting more hits in the center area of the target than my ability to hold could account for as I believe that the size of ones group is directly related to ability to hold the gun steady while maintaining sight allignment and causing the pistol to fire without disturbine the other elements of a good shot. Please dont misunderstand my response to Steves jab. I have the greatest respect for his ability to analize and correct training steps and suspect that I would be the person with the national record rather than my friend Hershel Anderson had I the benefit of his ideas when training and competing. I not only feel fine but my highest score is still higher than yours and I doubt if there is anything you can do to change that. Good Shooting Bill Horton It would probably be best if you refrained from personal comments refering to me. I will not let cheap shots pass unresponded to under any circumstances.
