Air Rifle Target Height

Post by BJ »

Hi Everyone,

For international air rifle competition there is a fixed height that the targets are supposed to be at. I've been looking around trying to figure out what it is but can't seem to find it. I probably overlooked it somehow but was hoping that someone might know what it is off the top of their head.

Thanks,
Brian

1.4 Metres is correct, but it has to be measured at the firing point line in case the floor of the range is not absolutely level.
Check the ISSF rules as i think they say 1.4 m plus or minus 5 mm or 15 mm can't remember which. Measurement is to the centre of the bull.
I know they give you a few mm either way. If its out side this, records cannot be ratified.

6.3.9 Height of Target Center (Center of the Ten Ring)
The center of the targets must be within the following heights
when measured from the level of the floor of the firing point:
10 m ranges 1.40 m +/- 0.05 m

This translates to 55", +- 2" for us non-metric folks

I guess this is for single targets, how about AR-5/10 targets? I set the top of the paper to 58". Is this correct?

Hi Thomas, The AR-5/10 has 12 targets, 10 + 2 sighters, so which one is center? Or do you mean the center of the paper. Cheers Limey

Centered between the two sighters

As a note, I usually begin my 8-11 year olds in standing centered at their shoulder height. As they become more comfortable I'll adjust the stance and hand support to get it up to the regulation height by the time they are firing in their first match.
