It will probably not damage your barrel directly but will cause more wear because of the higher temperature, pressure and bullet speed in the barrel. Smallbore barrels do wear, especially at the bottom (6 o'clock position) because al the dirt and grit lying there from the previous shot. But I suppos...

I quickly read the chapter in Harold Vaughn's book about the effect of wind on (supersonic) bullets this morning during breakfast. He writes that wind deflection is caused by the nose of the bullet lining up with the directon of the wind. So the nose is pushed of the 90 degree angle it makes with it...

The main advantage of the Bleiker smallbore (over the others mentioned here) is the ease of loading because the loading port being closer to the shooter. This allows for loading while staying in position which is a big advantage in keeping NPA. Some pictures of the Bleiker rifle can be seen at www.I...

Re: Accuracy and barrel length

Why do guns designed for accuracy characteristically have long(er) barrels? They don't have longer barrels than needed to achieve the optimum bullet stabilization and velocity, look at the short airrifle barrels used in 10 meter competition and the short 100 and 200 yards benchrest barrels. For sma...

Found the russian style testing rig at a german website:

http://www.stopper.de/product_info.php/ ... esm-2.html

But the ESP rig looks easier to operate and a better construction.

Hi Ted, What you've got there is a Weihrauch (pronounced like why-raugh). take a look at http://www.weihrauch-port.de/englisch/e_startseite/e_index.htm They are not very popular over here in europe, but i do not know why. Weihrauch is very famous for their spring operated airrifles (HW35 and HW90 fo...

Even for a club shooter it would be wise to test his ammo. I test all the ammo I use, for training as well as for matches. There is a big difference in accuracy between the lots of cheap ammo. (I shoot two ten shot groups at 50 meters (55 yards) with each new lot, so it doesn't cost that much). The ...

My advise: Go out and try to hold the alustocked versions of the FWB, Walther and Anschutz in your own hands. If possible in the shooting position with all the gear, but just holding then in your hands will tell you a lot more than reading about it. When I held the Walther KK200 Alu stock the first ...

I would try to get info on this subject from the smallbore Benchrest shooting community on the internet. I thought there are quite some BR50 shooters in the US (as compared to europe, where i'am from) who might have usefull info on which system they prefer. They are real material and testing freaks....

The lighter pellets will go faster but have less mass, so the energy is also lower. Anyway if the rifle would be shooting to fast to stay under the energy limit you can easily adjust the speed (within limits) on the Walther rifles by adjusting the hammerspring tension. On alu stocked rifles this can...

Buy a dry fire cocking handle from a mod 603 and mount it on the cockingbar. You need someone to make a threaded hole in the cockingbar. Next take away a little wood at the place the dry fire handle want's to come out.
This is what I did to my former mod. 600.

I have a laminated stock dominator and I like it for FT shooting, but for hunting it is too heavy and the weight is way up front. I never shot a Hunter but from the pics it seems that they use a shorter aircilinder that makes it less frontheavy, and the total weight is lower. The big FT scopes make ...
