I wore shooting shoes simply to avoid problems with inspections and distractions during the match. No one said anything when I wore a brand name shooting shoe.
Didn't seem to have any effect on my score. My personal demons took care of that.

I have a 152 but I have never used it. I shoot a 150 and bought the 152 used as a spare. I will bring my 152 in to work and check it to make sure it is working. I have the facilities to trouble shoot the circuit, reverse engineer it and build replacement circuit cards. If I remember correctly the wi...

When I was shooting leg matches for the Distinguished Pistol Badge I accumulated 30 points shooting in military matches since I was retired Navy. This was back when DCM was folding and CMP was taking over. I got a letter from CMP stating that DCM had not collected registration fees from the military...

Tom, If you are shooting for fun you really need a good quality free pistol. Don't short change yourself because you don't expect to make the big team. Shooting a free pistol is hard enough, it's impossible if you are working around the deficiencies of the weapon. You will enjoy the experience every...

Zilla, Many people take a really fun game and turn it into work. Stick with having a good time and enjoy yourself. As you gain experience and your technique improves your score will improve as well. The joy of shooting will still be there and you will also have a sense of accomplishment as you maste...

My family was adopted by a kitten about a year ago. Whenever I start to shoot the cat jumps up on the shooting bench and works hard at getting in my way. He studies me closely and once I have found my position he lays down in the spot where I want to rest the pistol forcing me to move and reaquire m...

I agree completely with Steve. As a baby, the first thing you learn is to grab at what you want with your whole hand. The next thing you learn is to focus on what you want. As you grow you continue to re-enforce your instincts to look at what you want and grab for it. Did your baseball coach ever sa...

Steve, When you intensly focus your attention on the front sight your eye will be compelled to focus on the sight as well. It's only when your mind is idling or wandering that your vision is free to move. It's normal for your vision to jump from one thing to another. It will do that unless we are co...

Steve, I feel that mental focus is the more important of the two. Your visual focus can be on the front sight while your mind is jumping from one thing to another. Your mind only focuses on one thing at a time and if it is focused on the front sight you are in the zone. It indicates total commitment...

I just bought a Morini CM22 and am very happy with it. Everyone seems spooky about gun malfunctions and lots of stories get circulated but it's difficult to get a handle on what is a real problem and what is not. I first tested my CM22 with five brands of ammo. I had read the instructions which desc...

When I bought my first high end air pistol it was a FWB Model 100 which I purchased from Beeman Precision. I didn't know anyone who shot air pistols and had no idea of how to care for it. When it arrived it came with a typed note stating that single stroke pneumatic air guns would collect moisture i...

This problem is more prevelent than many will admit. Steve, of course, has the answer and that is what we are all trying to do. The only difference is the degree to which we loose our concentration and the number of times it happens. That determines where we are on the road to success. Doug in Virgi...
