Every match, every practice session one learns something new.
The last time I shot AP60, I adopted a "fledgling grip" on the LP400 and the trigger finger was making nearly all of the exertion. Releasing shots without flinching became easier.

400 gram trigger pressure before raising?

Dear TargetTalkers, Does anyone apply lots of finger pressure on their air pistol triggers before lifting, so little more pressure is needed to break the shot when necessary? I ask because in today's match (best target 50, total score 526 :( ) I felt that I was having too much trouble releasing shot...

FP neophyte - new gun, unpleasant surprise

Dear TTers, Last week I began to shoot Free Pistol after more than a year with just AP. It's a nice sport, more of a pure precision event without the constraint of great trigger weight that one has to get through in AP. However, the day after each practice I have had bothersome muscle pain throughou...

I'd estimate 20-25%. But it does not matter. Rob Stubbs is right. If there is any doubt, put the gun down. Put it down, let it go, sit down for a minute. Then stand up refreshed and shoot the 10. After sitting down, do you have to recheck your natural point of aim with eyes shut before attempting a...

What do you think of your new LP400 in general? An interesting gun. Pros: inherently accurate, very adjustable, nice loading gate / rammer, little recoil, excellent weight and balance, nice trigger. Cons: difficult to avoid supination (rotation of gun axis towards the weak side), adjustment screws ...

AP trigger first stage position?

Dear shooters, Last week I repositioned my LP400's first stage position from its factory setting, of about 40% of the trigger's movement track / pressure to about 90% so that the first stage would end just as the shot breaks. In my first week this made training easier as I had less squirming with th...

Have adjusted the grip on the LP00 a lot. Basically a rod connects the grip to the frame, and this rod can be adjusted in pitch, bank and yaw, to borrow aeronautical terms. You can remove the grip from the rod and replace it without losing the memory. The LP400 shoots just as nicely as the LP10. One...

Thanks for the link.

To make sure, do the filters clip on to the iris, or do they require a proprietary holder?

Need filter advice

Dear Shooters, In a recent match I shot under such conditions (relatively dark range, properly lit targets) that the halo reflected from the rear sight made acquisition and retention of the front sight difficult, given my particular eyesight. This is not usually a problem in matches. It might be dow...

Thanks for the tips thus far. 1. After this match I had a normal training session. This time I did not prop my gun on its case, fatiguing less while in the "waiting position" as my arm was not raised nearly as much. Also I aborted fewer shots and was less anxious than in a match. 2. I thin...

Deltoids, pistols and warm-up

Hi, TTers. Am having trouble with energy and time management in AP matches - thought I could confide and get tips in exchange. I have learned in training that dry firing is a good technique for warming up the deltoid and supraspinatus muscles to make aiming more precise during matches. After experim...

Thanks for the feedback thus far folks.

Alas, I live in a country where importing and owning guns is complicated and ridden with bureaucratic hurdles, including air pistols. Our club is getting more TOZ 35s in, so I shall try them on a bit before proceeding too much further.

Southpaw transitioning from AP to FP - tips welcome

Dear TTers, First I'll introduce myself. I'm a c. 40 year old shooter from Israel, and have been shooting 10m air pistol for a year. I learned the trade with a FWB65 and now use a Walther LP400. I also shoot IPSC Production division. Since getting serious in Olympic shooting, I have quit flying as m...
