tuj wrote:Yes the regular aimtech colt mount should fit any 1911. On my Spartan, I had to use a dremel to slightly enlarge one of the grip bushing mounting holes, but otherwise the fit was fine. The metal is pretty tough stuff too.
Thank you very much!

Good Shooting;

ric: I do not think the aimtech mount would deter your progress in bullseye depending on what level of shooter you are. I am a humble marksman and I can shoot as good with my STI Spartan with its factory trigger and aimtech mount as I can with my Les Baer PII 1.5G with very low frame-mount dot. I t...

rimfire ric: if you just want to try out a dot on your gun without modifying it, check out the aimtech mount which replaces the right grip panel. You can do this work yourself. As for the trigger, you should take that to a smith for the work. You can fiddle with the sear spring a little bit yoursel...

I too have a RO that I purchased to shoot bullseye 25 yd indoor. It shoots great but the 5.5 lb trigger pull is to hard, and would like to get it down to 3.5 lbs and mount a frame mount and ultra dot. Since I have no idea how to work on it should I try to find a local smith or send it to someone? An...

You will see some GSPs at Camp Perry. It is a fine gun, but not any better than most of the othe guns you will see there. What you wont see is many CF guns in calibers other than 45 or 9mm. This is for a couple of reasons. The first is the time cruch factor. On preliminary day especially most peopl...

This is a tricky exchange if you are not going to shoot with irons. A red dot could be mounted on the frame in order to be used with both slides but chances are that it will not line up with both barrels, and you are going to have to figure out what the adjustment is. You might also have to mount i...

Sobakavitch and Mike M - thank you for the additional information. If you have both the .22 top end and the .32 top end and shoot a red dot do you have to have a red dot on both top ends (.22 and .32) or would one be interchangeable with the top ends and still be on zero? I understand the scope moun...

Thanks Jake; I had read that write-up on trigger control, and thought I had missed something on 2 stage you initially mentioned. Isabel, thank you for that explanation. As a relative new shooter, I just made a nice jump in my scores by installing a volquartsen accurizing kit and eliminating pretrave...

If you want to decide which is the one for you, go to Brian Zinns website and read what he has to say. You can also email him for an opinion. I went to www.brianzinns.com but I could not find anything on two stage triggers. I guess I could have missed it. If you have a link you could post I would a...

This is very good information and brings up a point I would not have considered. I'm sure glad I made this post and you guys have been so forthcoming with your thoughts. I always thought "single stage", and is why I was so surprised to see the Pistols listed on CC all had 2 stage triggers....

I only shoot 2 stage triggers, everyone I shoot with shoots a 2 stage ttigger. Even my 1911's are 2 stage. I have the small 3 gun Strong box and my Walher fits. The tray is adjustable for height. Jake; Thank you for the information. I learned something I didn't know about triggers, and I am relieve...

Thanks for the great information. I went to Champions Choice web site, and each of their GSP experts is listed as having a 2 stage trigger with a a 1000 g pull weight. I was under the impression that single stage was better for Bulls Eye Shooting. Which trigger is best and maybe if I call them I can...

Walther GSP Expert Questions?

I am thinking about upgrading to a new 22 for Bullseye. I started on the low end of the spectrum, and now want a pistol that I can pretty much stay with, rather than make two more jumps. I had pretty much decided on a Model 41, and then last week, a member of our league showed me his GSP. I got to h...

Re: Ruger Mark III with Volquartsen Kit

I'm curious why you didn't install the Mark III kit. Since you asked. I did not know about this rule at the time. The Mag safety requiring a magazine to be inserted to pull the trigger greatly complicates the field stripping and assembly of the pistol. It also prevents magazines from falling out wh...

To all, I appreciate the replys. I am new to the sport, and was trying to do the right thing. It appears the rule is somewhat subjective and lends itself to interpretation or is generally not followed at all. In retrospeck I wish I had not asked. The Mark III 22/45 is only designated on the barrel a...

I purchased a SA Range Officer and from a rest at 25 yards it will shoot 1 inch groups right out of the box. I paid $825 for mine and I felt I was paing to much, but the only one I could find at the time. The slide on the RO has an excellent fit and the trigger is nice (no pretravel or overtravel), ...

Question - RE: NRA Conventional Pistol Rules

I don't own an expensive pistol, but I started shooting in a local club Bulls eye league this winter with my Mark III 22/45. I added some rubberized grips, a Ultra Dot, and a Mark II Volquartsen drop in accurizing kit. I went with a Mark II kit in order to eliminate the Mark III magazine safety whic...

I shot the weekly league indoor 600 match with the ultra dot last night for the first time after zeroing it in. I shot my best score yet and improved over previous week by 16%. I think it was a combination of practice and the new sight, but at least it seemed to help and I am very pleased with the s...

Wow! I finally got it. I totally missed it at first. I was reading polirizer, but I'm not sure what I was thinking. Now I get it, and I could see how that might vibrate around some, and it is only when it is needed when shooting outside. This winter on the indoor range I don't have to worry about it...
