Building Pellet Traps
We decided to upgrade our club pellet traps from the large yellow Daisy traps to the 3 position traps made from plans Jay V. sent me. (They are also available from the CMP website) This is the one that is full height and allows hanging all targets for a 3 x 20 match at once. I wanted to pass on my m...

In Michigan, an Air Pistol is still a pistol . . . so you have to pay your $5 and have the serial number recorded at the police office. Also, an air rifle is considered a firearm if the barrel is not smooth bore. So BB-Guns are not firearms, but any competition gun is. But, no registration or paperw...

Opps -
Yeah - your right. I changed that on one copy and forgot to update the one on my other computer.
Consider that corrected.

Match Plan - Long Post
Often we talk of working on a match plan, but what is it? I put together this starter match plan for my juniors. It may not be perfect, but it at least makes them think about the topic for a few minutes . . . Here it is (formatting somewhat screwed-up) - constructive comments welcome - or share your...

Grip Removal
I have a Pardini K60. Enjoying learning to shoot it and it is in great shape except for the grip. It has no functional issue, but I'd like to remove and re-finish it (mental thing).
How do I remove the grip? It was not obvious to me.

Sporter Class Slings
For you leaders looking for a good leather sling which meets the rules for "sporter" class of shooting. Try Lee McKinney at: xcount@dakotacom.net He makes a nice sling for $15. It is basic leather with two buckles. I think he may make slings for precision also. Jim - A happy customer of Le...

If you have seen any Olympic coverage in the past few Olympics, you know that you only actually see 30 seconds of any sporting event (other than ones which draw lots of viewers and big money - basketball). Expect to see a total of 5 minutes of shooting during a time slot, filled with human interest ...

Helen said it first and is correct. I just add some specifics that we do. 1. We picked a curriculum for the classroom portion. We used the NRA First Steps program. The materials were inexpensive and useful. We also developed our own visual aids (lots of touchy feely stuff) and always keep an assortm...

As a recent purchaser of one of these (delivered last Friday) I am really impressed. No, it may not have all the trimmings of a new LP series from Styer, but what you get for $380 is quite a deal! I am currently looking for a nice case for it - looking in the trash at work for an old instrument case...

Basic Beginner Ammo
Our club is moving our air rifle team out to the 50 yard range over the summer to have some fun. We have a collection of old Anschultz and Mossberg target rifles, nothing too modern or fancy. What would be a good choice for practice ammo? I was thinking Wolf Match Target from Champions Choice at $28...

Michigan Fun Matches
Tom - I am partially in the communications loop for Michigan Juniors. Curt sends me his match notices. I'd appreciate any you hear about. Unfortunately the MRPA seems rather focused on High Power right now. If our club gets a permanent air rifle range constructed this year, we could host a match. Ri...

I don't want to get into a debate over Michigan gun laws - in some ways they make sense in others they do not. Michigan doesn't prohibit the sale of airguns or ownership . . . but they treat them like firearms and force you to comply with all the silly storage and transportation laws (locked cases e...

Friendly Competitions
Over the winter our club (Tri-County Sportsman's League in Saline, MI) participated in a home and home bi-lateral match with the Copper Shooters in Kalamazoo, MI. While I certainly don't want to substitute such matches for open sanctioned competitions, I think these types of informal bi-lateral matc...
