As a linguist by profession, this is particularly interesting to me. The " Any caliber 5.6 mm (.22”) rimfire pistol chambered for Long Rifle cartridges may be used ," in the rules (8.4.3.3.) appears to be unambiguously structured, even if the sentence structure is awkward. " any "...

jr, HOWEVER, MY right to keep and bear arms is a constitutionally guaranteed right. ... Not being able to lane split on a motorcycle in Arkansas may be a useless law, but it certainly does not rise to the level of a constitutional or natural law freedom. This is all very simple.... If you live in state where they are so STUPID to restrict an air pistol....... MOVE! If you don't live in one of those states...... DON'T VISIT Problem solved. rmarsh - I agree with you that it's stupid to restrict air pistols (well, at least for adults, and at least for...

There was an NRA ILA brief that covered this last year that is particularly pertinent to NYC and New Jersey: http://www.nraila.org/news-issues/fact-sheet/2012/hr4269firearmstransportation.aspx Pay special attention to the description of Mr. Revell's case. He was a Utah resident transiting through EW...

My favorite part used to be Line 8, especially the beginning.

And on a separate note, given the historical context, the comments in this thread by johnny_r are especially ironic.

To Skanaker:... ...he used to pause in the middle of the match, sometimes to walk to the spectators and telling jokes. Yes, often with his pistol still in his hand! Perhaps it was to ensure that his jokes would be well-received and laughed at? Maybe some of those very jokes are in the book "Sc...

Check with paintball shops, too.
3000 psi is the 'normal' pressure level used for paintball, but 4500 psi is also pretty common.

I warned you! I think it would be cool to use the right eye to look through the sights at the (slightly out-of-focus) target while the left eye would be trained to follow the pellet (or bullet) in its path toward the target, thus making it easier to "calling your shots". (left-handed shoo...

Wow, sounds like you're very busy! I think it goes without saying that actually shooting is the best thing you can do to practice shooting, whether "live" or dry firing. Nevertheless, I think some activities / sports offer significant cross-benefits to the shooter. I have nine different sp...

Hi John, I almost ordered some the other day to try it out. I wish I would have, because now it's showing 'out of stock'. There's a pretty thorough review of it at http://www.legalsilencer.com/?p=80 Basically the reviewer likes it and reaches the conclusion that it is measurably better than CCI Stan...

That's very cool. Thanks for posting. I notice that Skanåker shot with both eyes open, no glasses or anything, like Yusuf Dikeç does in air pistol. From what I understand, this is still OK under current ISSF rules in air pistol and free pistol, right? I also noticed that "Mexico City", in ...

Masaki-san, Well, your English is way better than my Japanese. I think that maybe the best word for that would simply be "strap". There is the term "add-a-bag-strap", but that's the name of a specific company's product. There's the term "rollaboard strap", but that only...

Re: "Ancient" pistols for FP competition.

[ Yep. Hammerli 100 with an octagonal barrel. Original sales receipt says it was sold in 1949. Why? Well, because that's what I've got, and because it works quite well. I'm kind of worried something will break some day but so far that hasn't happened. Fantastic. Did the receipt say "Olympia&qu...

"Top Shot" featured in Slate Magazine

Slate Magazine, at www.slate.com , is an online magazine of "news, politics, and culture". There is a new article today called Top Shot: The Excellent Reality Show That Could Teach Liberals about Gun Culture It's noteworthy because it would be safe to say that Slate's readership likely has...

Re: "Ancient" pistols for FP competition.

... anyone here STILL uses a pre-late 1950s FP to compete in a sanctioned match (PTO, state, or national...)? If you still do, what is your reason? Yep. Hammerli 100 with an octagonal barrel. Original sales receipt says it was sold in 1949. Why? Well, because that's what I've got, and because it wo...

A dog shock collar, with the remote cleverly hidden in your loved ones pocket, is the obvious, and ISSF legal solution. Re: Shooting with No front sight, All trigger

One of my friend's tidbit from that class was to take the front sight off, and just concentrate on a smooth pull. My friend said he actually shot as well with no front sight on as with front sight on. What do you think? No way, I think, unless your friend has an exceptionally high midichlorian coun...

To be honest, what I'd REALLY like to do is shoot like Yusuf Dikeç does - he competes with nothing at all over his eyes and he has 3 ISSF world cup medals (including the gold at Munich 2011), so clearly (pun alert!) it works for him. He is my favorite shooter. No eyes no ears, shoot with both eyes ...

About a dozen different variants of the Ruger Mk III and over a dozen variants of the Browning Buckmark are on the DOJ "approved" list (see http://certguns.doj.ca.gov/ ). Plenty of people use these to start out (especially the Ruger), and there are some respectable scores. I'm personally p...
