Re: AR

I would think some of it depends on what you intend to use it for. If I were using it as a training tool for biathlon racing on snow or roller skis, I would get the Steyr. That way the rifle would be as close to my real biathlon rifle as possible (similar toggle). If you aren't using it that way, I ...

cheap wind flags

I'm thinking about getting some 3/8" dowels, sharpening them in a pencil sharpener as the stake. Then using surveyors flagging with a grommet and a pushpin to make up the flag. The dowels might not hold up too long depending on how hard the ground is, but they would cost about a buck apiece. An...

You might give Altiusguns a shout, I'm sure Mark could tell you the thread size and what would work for an eagle eye.

Re: 1827 front sight threads

Hey Shooterer,

I tried to see if the retaining ring for my air rifle would thread into the 1827 I have (which is the same generation as yours). The ring fit, but wouldn't thread because the threads on the biathlon rifle were finer than those on the air rifle.

Re: eye sight correction

I think I’m starting to understand the idea. The one lens adjusts the focal point, while the other provides the magnification? I’m guessing that the lenses work in tandem for each change in focal point.

Re: eye sight correction

RPM, I've seen the Gehmann irises in the Champions Choice catalog, but I don't really understand them. I see that you can get diopter correction with or without magnification, but I don't know what that means. My understanding is that a diopter is a unit of measurement, how does that get corrected? ...

Re: eye sight correction

Thanks Martin, that's the kind of thing I was thinking of. Would it be robust enough for biathlon is now the question. Tim, a +0.5 correction was discussed during a visit to my optometrist, but there were limits to the correction based on what is available as a contact. I'm not completely sure that ...

eye sight correction

I am near sighted and have astigmatism. I currently play at biathlon wearing contacts with my aiming eye having a +.5 diopter correction ( I believe that's correct). The front sight is wonderfully clear, too clear, and as expected the target is quite fuzzy and the "check gap" is not well d...

Re: front sight eagle eye

OK, I'm confused again. I would have thought that if the lens was between the eye and the fore sight, it would magnify both the sight element and the target. However if the lens was between the fore sight and the target, it would simply magnify the target.

sight cleaning and maintenance

I'm sure the info is here somewhere, but my search came up with too many results and not the right ones. What should I do for regular maintenance on a 6827 sight?
