rifle accuracy
I have an Anschutz 1827 biathlon rifle that I have never been very impressed with its accuracy. It is an older club rifle and I have no idea how many rounds have been through it or how it was cleaned and handled in the past. I have given the rifle a good cleaning paying special attention to the crow...

Re: Izhmash CM-2 Cadet/Youth
I'm pretty sure you can get an adaptor to go from Izhmash to Anschutz from Mark Shepard at Altius guns. Search for Altius on the web, he has a variety of parts for Izhmash.

Re: Best gun argument yet
I have to say that I agree with dipnet, that if we, as the shooting sports community, can't have a useful discussion about this, it is very hard to see how anyone else can. I, personally would be supportive on new gun laws if I Ever heard of ones that would have the effect of reducing violence. I ha...

Has this been used with biathletes? It might require a lot more sensors, but I could see where they could benefit quite a bit from this sort of tech.

Re: Would you buy a used Biathlon rifle off the internet?
Biathlon rifles are not treated with kidd gloves the way other rifles are. Yes, they get dropped, skiers crash and break the rifles stocks. They are used in the rain on a regular basis. The athletes carve up the stocks as well. That said, the rifles are pretty robust, think of them more as a tractor...

Re: Sporter to Precision Jump
Can you please post any more information you have about this new trigger. Do you know when it came out? Do you know the difference between the versions of the Challenger? Do you know who is selling the trigger?

Re: Article on dyslexia explains eye dominance
Interesting, my right eye is only slightly dominant at distances while my left eye is strongly dominant at close range. I'm also left handed, so I'm cross dominant. To make things even slightly more curious, I'm right footed when kicking but my left leg is more dominant when sking. But I'm not dysle...

Re: Sporters/precision
I have a Challenger that I use for biathlon practice and as such I am not bound by any competition requirements. I have heavily modified my Challenger to be as much like my biathlon rifle as possible. The Challenger is very accurate and I have had no problems with it. It is not a precision rifle how...

I'm thinking plane ticket. But where would one go? Not Canada or Yurp. Maybe Mexico? Belarus has a great shooting program. Maybe one of the Stans. There's always Russia. It's funny to think that you would have to go to one of the former USSR states to have the same political climate you would under ...

Re: Installing a Dioptre rear and globe front sight on a rif
I guess I should have chimed in here sooner. I was given about two cases of CCI Blazers at the height of the 22 ammo shortage and traded it for a Savage MK II in a thumbhole stock. I had intended to use it as a biathlon rifle. I bought sights from Eastern Sierra Armory (They make a biathlon stock fo...

Re: Airgun Backstop?
For our 4H club we hang sheets of carpet padding behind the targets. The carpet padding has grommets and some cord on it and is hung from hooks in the ceiling. It takes about 5 min to hang, and rolls up to store. The pellet's energy gets absorbed by the movement of the carpet padding and the pellets...

Re: standing balance eyes
I don't have an answer for the OP, but I have another question. I have always shot with one eye closed. I have never had any balance issues shooting this way and I don't have many problems with sway unless I hold for too long. I do have issues with small oscillations. Would shooting with both eyes o...

Re: crossmans challenger????
I hotrodded a Challenger for biathlon practice. I followed to trigger mod which Andre suggested (thanks again Andre) and it worked out great. I modified a Savage mk ll with a butt plate similar to the one above but was not really pleased with the result, so for the Challenger I bought the Anschutz b...

Re: Make Shooting Great Again!
One thing you might consider when thinking about Trump is that no one is going to work with him. The dems won't, the repubs won't, the military won't ( I think they are the most afraid of him, I wouldn't want any kids in the military with him as President). It wouldn't surprise me if after a few yea...

Re: ISSF Report - Summary of IOC Sports Department - ISSF Mt
Oh, I would like to add that I really do think that long term, precision shooting is very inexpencive, especially AP and AR. The initial buy in is higher than a lot of sports, but after that the costs are negligable. My family has probibly spent more on soccer cleats then I have on shooting equiptme...

Re: ISSF Report - Summary of IOC Sports Department - ISSF Mt
It's very true that people will find the money to do the things that they want. It's also true that the infrastructures around you can contribute to expence or lack of expence to do those things. The 4H shooting program I helped with seemed to attract the kids from the most impoverished families in ...

Re: ISSF Report - Summary of IOC Sports Department - ISSF Mt
You are quite right about the costs of clothing being minimal at an international level. I'm thinking of barriers to new participants. I'm sorry, but I've seem to have created a distraction to the main point of the post. Not too long ago, I was helping with a 4H shooting program and was interested i...

I get small blocks of down time at work and I've been doing just those sorts of exercises. I started thiking that maybe a weight would help me cement the position of my left elbow. Maybe not.

Re: ISSF Report - Summary of IOC Sports Department - ISSF Mt
I'm not intersted in changing anyones sport, but if the sport no longer has enough participation or viewership it will die on its own. From what people are posting on this thread, it seems like it is a possiblilty that this could happen to ISSF shooting. As far as tuning the discipline to someones l...
