Re: ERRANT NINE O'ClOCK HITS?
Gwhite, I won't be shooting with thumb tacks taped on my pistols. But, pretending that they are present, just might do the trick! I appreciate your tip. For a right-handed shooter, could pivoting the wrist slightly to the left, just prior to discharge, also be a possible cause of those hits? The cha...

ERRANT NINE O'ClOCK HITS?
383883a267ac6ffa520fddd0508ec1ca.jpg The following seems to be happening to me more often than not lately. After shooting the first 5 shot string in either Timed or Rapid Fire, I will peek through my spotting scope in order to observe and check my progress. All of the hits are in the X and Ten Ring...

Re: The new Margolin thread
BobGee,
Quoting from the above: "Unless you've already done it, make sure you file the edges with an outward (towards the front) bevel, i.e. wider on the target side than the shooter side."
Just curious. What is gained by filing the rear sight blade in the manner that you recommended?

Re: Aguila 22 LR-SE Standard Velocity Ammunition
Nice work! Your testing indicates that one might use higher velocity ammo than Standard for target use. I found this out while using CCI Blazer instead of SV during a .22 crunch. Cheap, too! Rover, Velocity is one thing to consider when selecting target ammunition. What about a given cartridge's op...

Re: Dry Fire Advice?
Pitt Willett and Chris use a blank wall and a target when dry firing with a dot sight. At first, I dismissed their suggestion of using a blank wall, thinking that doing so would have no merit. Just for the heck of it, I tried using this method to see if anything would be gained from it. When actuall...

Stan,
Your math formula is the same one that I planned on using.
Thank you all for taking the time to answer my question.

Dry Fire Advice?
When I shot pistols with iron shots, dry fire sessions were conducted while standing just a few feet away from a wall. The bedroom had been painted in an off-white color and no target of any kind was used. Not counting the wall, only 2 objects were seen, those being the front and rear sights. Nowada...

Re: Shooting Glasses Advice
This is impossible unless you see double EVERYTHING when looking out at the world. Look ONLY at the target, not the dot: let the red dot be out there. Rover, While your advice is much appreciated, it just did not work for me. When trying to shoot with both eyes open, two target and two sight images...

Go onto Bullseyepistol.com, look under the "Technical Information" section on the page and look for the" Vision Topics for Shooters by Dr. Norman Wong." Print the article and take it to your Optometrist. Better yet, get it to him BEFORE your appointment. He will understand the t...

Shooting Glasses Advice
I have been near-sighted from day one. In the past, single vision glasses worked well when shooting handguns equipped with iron sights. I now wear blended bifocals and have switched over to an UltraDot Sight. I'm thinking of getting a special pair of glasses that will be dedicated solely for Bullsey...

Re: Powder Scale Recommendations
fc60,
Thanks for the reply. Acquiring an older scale is certainly an option. We were curious about the ones that are being manufactured nowadays. A used scale can be a good way to go, as long as it was not abused or damaged by accident.

Powder Scale Recommendations
I am trying to help a fellow shooter who has only been shooting Bullseye with a .22 to date. He wants to reload his own centerfire ammo and has gathered everything needed to start, except for a powder scale. He saw my RCBS 5-0-5 Scale and would prefer to get an analog/beam balance type that is simil...

Re: Center hold with Hammerli X-esse?
Hi. I guess I am missing something. Why would you want to shoot a center hold. The guns you are talking about are target guns, not tactical guns. They are made to shoot with a six o'clock hold. Perhaps you need to look for a gun that is made for tactical shooting if that is what you want. samg, Cen...

Re: Center hold with Hammerli X-esse?
For your S&W M41 you could also first check about replacement rear sight leafs or sights and then decide to file the top of the rear sight leaf and notch lower. Glenn, With all due respect to Sa-tevo, another issue may arise if the solution proposed above is attempted. Please note that I am not...

Re: Center hold with Hammerli X-esse?
Since the gun shoots higher than my point of aim, i believe a higher front sight will lower my muzzle and point of impact. Thanks, Glenn Glenn, The thinking in the quote above is correct. spektr has recommended a simple and workable solution to your problem. Just how much higher does the front sigh...

Re: Pardini .22 magazine modification?
The slide slams hard shut on every .22 target pistol and rifle with every round, often so hard it rebounds to the extent that the new round is pulled up to halfway out of the chamber. The friction of the round loading will be close to trivial. For example https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OOyfYHhX4b4...

Re: Pardini .22 magazine modification?
No modern target pistols have a last shot hold open. Reason (apart from it being unnecessary) is that you get a different recoil feel when the bolt/slide only completes half it's cycle. j-team, Yes, some shooters may feel a different recoil effect when the bolt/slide only completes half it's cycle....

Now I'm building a 5" Lightweight frame Colt 1911 with a Nelson .22lr conversion and this should be under 30 oz. Lucky to have found one NIB as Colt has stopped offering the 5" Lightweight. Caspian Arms does offer stripped Series '70 Government Model Frames in carbon, stainless steel and ...

Re: Pardini dry fire?
The discussion here prompts me to ask a question. Please bear in mind that it is coming from a long time High Standard Victor fan. So many of the "Euro" .22 pistols do not lock their bolts to the rear after the last shot has been fired in them. Some examples are: Benelli's MP95E and MP90S ...

That said, nobody in his right mind would EVER buy a new Walther GSP Expert, for whatever purpose. None. Not a beginner and leisure shooter, not a top-notch competitor. None. Alexander Alexander, I've never owned or shot a Walther, but always considered them to be high quality pistols. Looks like t...
