Re: Customer Support

Trooperjake,

Thanks for the thread. Will keep Metalform in mind for future purchases. Unfortunately, not all companies offer the same kind of

customer support as Metaform and Dillon Precision do!

Very true, make time to live your life and enjoy it.

Hi ghillieman, You're right; I certainly need to do that. Am looking forward to going back to Perry soon; perhaps next year?

Re: Camp Perry 2015

So in 22 years you've been unable to get away because you wanted to work? There's something wrong with you. When you drop dead, some folks will say "Aww" and move on. BTW The huts and food are OK. Rover, Rover, Rover: Wanted to work or HAD to work? There's nothing wrong with me; I feel ju...

Camp Perry 2015

Folks, Back in late April, there was a thread posted on this forum titled "Camp Perry New Huts". For those of you who were able to attend, what was your overall impression of the pistol phase of the National Matches? Comment on anything: the accommodations, the food, the weather, the range...

Re: Case bulge and Pardini GT 9-6

mr alexander, I called EGW and told them about my situation. They said the die should work in 90% of situation but in certain cases it will not be sufficient like a gun with a tight fitting chamber. They said I should return the die for merchandise credit. I am sure I will find something useful the...

Re: Case bulge and Pardini GT 9-6

HamidZahedi, Thank you for the report. Was really hoping that the 9mm Undersized Reloading Die from EGW would be the solution to your problem. On their website, mention was even made of using this product on brass that had been fired in Glock pistols! Your idea about dedicating new brass cases exclu...

Re: 45ACP, difference in 185 vs 200 gr SWC bullets

When I worked up my settings for the JHP, I determined my OAL by dropping it into my barrel and checking the spacing, and landed at 1.205". Should I also do this same method for lead, where the base of the brass case is almost flush? I am starting with a 185 grain SWC bullet. Murph, Am not exa...

Re: 45ACP, difference in 185 vs 200 gr SWC bullets

Did anyone else notice that 185 actually requires more powder to cycle the gun than 200? shaky hands, Your observation is correct. Assuming that the same powder was being used, one would logically think that a lighter lead bullet would require less powder while a heavier one would need more in orde...

Re: S&W mod 59

OlavM, The Model 59 was designed as a high capacity service pistol for the law enforcement market. As such it would offer service grade accuracy as you had suspected. I would guess that with good ammo it would shoot around 4 inch groups at 25 yards. I don't think anyone has or ever would use one in ...

Re: Case bulge and Pardini GT 9-6

HamidZahedi, I do not reload for the 9mm cartridge......yet. There is a specially designed and very affordable die that may be the solution to your problem. It is offered by EGW, which stands for Evolution Gun Works. To find out more about it: 1.) Go to: "www.egwguns.com". 2.) At the botto...

Re: Keyholing Clark bbl on my Model 41

Gort, I also visit a forum called "RFC", which is short for Rim Fire Central. On their "Smith & Wesson" section, the discussion a while back focused on the rising costs of USED Model 41 pistols. The reason for the price increases? New ones are temporarily unavailable. Accordi...

Re: Keyholing Clark bbl on my Model 41

A few years ago, I received a new in the box 41 .. The rifling had a 2inch section appox mid barrel, where the rifling process failed, and looked much like stripped threads on a bolt. The only place to find match grade barrels in the USA, is aftermarket.. Factory barrels certainly aren't in the sam...

Re: Keyholing Clark bbl on my Model 41

A 22 barrel shooting decent ammo should not have the first hint of lead.. If it does, something is wrong.. Jerry's posting reminded me of a true incident that I experienced decades ago. It was way back in 1975, right before I started shooting NRA Bullseye Pistol. Was out plinking in a gravel pit wi...

Re: Spotting scope use

This is what beats me: if you must scope to learn to call your shots, can't you stop scoping once you have in fact learned that skill? Or is learning to call your shots a lifetime process that never comes to fruition? (Apart from a gun or ammunition problem I can't actually think of another reason ...

"People don't like to scope every shot because it's HFW."

Hello John Bickar,

Re: Spotting scope use

Not with that attitude, certainly. No matter the attitude but at a certain age the reality catches with you. And bites. I agree with John Bickar that a good attitude is important, not only in shooting, but in reaching any goal that one wishes to achieve in life. However, shaky hands does raise a va...

Re: Spotting scope use

Did not have a spotting scope when first starting out; got one soon afterward. Couldn't imagine being without one now! I look through mine after every fired round in Slow Fire. Doing so helps to confirm that a shot is being called correctly. There's a small "Target Analysis Guide" taped to...
