I would not shoot HV in a .22 pistol. It is great in a revolver or a rifle but is hard on semi-autos. I love High Standards but they have an issue with frame cracking when using HV ammo.

Don't throw them away. Trade them to someone who uses small primer .45

Nothing wrong about a realistic analysis of ones own performance.

If I blame the shooter next to me for disturbing me then I am making excuses. If I say that I allowed myself to become distracted and lost focus then I am analyzing my own performance and taking responsibility for my errors.

7 Athletes shot 580 or better and didn't make the Finals. Incredible level of competition.

Don't forget the fatigue factor that a very tight grip creates. It is very difficult to be consistent during a 2 hour match at the best of times. Any exaggerated action will be even more difficult to maintain.

The simple answer is that you should practice the way you compete. There are a lot of similarities between FP and AP but they obviously are not identical. I think you need to practice or dryfire both. I would never set a FP trigger to 500gr in the idea of standardizing. You are giving yourself a nee...

I put the Pardinis away for a month or 2 after the competition season ends and shoot my High Standard Trophy and Smith Model 27, just for old times sake. I use them in NRA 2700 matches too, just for the fun of it. After a while I am ready to get serious again and start shooting the Pardinis again.

We used the vertical line and horizontal line targets as Air Pistol training exercises. We started with dry firing at a plain wall with no target. The idea is to maintain a correct sight picture during trigger pull. The absence of a target allowed the shooter to concentrate solely on the sight pictu...

If you are going to use a file to open up the notch use a block of wood or a small square to keep the file perpendicular to the sight blade.

Best of luck.

The original poster does not say anywhere that he had a "perfect Grip angle". Sounds to me that the grip as configured is far from perfect. He stated that he felt the options were changing pistols or altering the trigger guard. There are less drastic options I would consider first. Sometim...

The simplest things are sometimes the best solution. As some have pointed out you can adjust the grip angle through a simple adjustment of the screws. This is a design feature of the pistol. I would try that before considering altering the trigger guard or changing pistols.

Best of luck.

When I was coaching a Junior AP team I used to encourage loud cheering by the Parents just for that reason. We were finding that our Athletes were competing well below their practice averages and had to find ways to duplicate the pressure and distractions of major competitions.

I picked up an inexpensive 20 power spotting scope (Alpen) that I leave mounted in my shooting box. I can see the .22 holes at 50 metres but I would not recommend anything less. A little more than 20x would be better. http://www.amazon.com/Alpen-20x50-Waterproof-Mini-Spotting-Scope/dp/B00013Q35W

Staying on the topic of the .32............. I see Berrys Bullets produce a 83gr plated HBWC. Has anyone tried their bullets? I normally shoot Speers due to availability. The Berrys are listed as a .312 compared to the .314 of the Speer/Lapua/HN. Does the plating change the need for oversizing the b...

Airpistol is a great way to practice. Concentrate on the basics. It works from the ground up. Your Stance and your Grip have to be consistent, then maintain sight alignment while squeezing the trigger. After the shot breaks follow through by maintaining the sight alignment for a bit before you lower...
