9/13 Jay Leno "Headlines"
Did y'all see it? Matt Emmons made the "Headlines" bit on the Tonight Show. Apparently a paper had a photo of him looking a little glum after his boo-boo with a headline to the effect of "Olympian hits wrong target, misses gold" ....but immediately beneath Mr. Emmons pic was one ...

To take a page from the IPSC folks, why not have different divisions within the events? When IPSC shooting in the US started moving from people shooting single stack .45s to fully tricked out compensated and scoped .38 supers, the US national governing body (USPSA) created different divisions to kee...

Mike McDaniel Said: Fifth, I think that RF may be unsalvagable in the US. The bays are just too costly - even turning targets are beyond the price of the average shooter, and only a handful of clubs have the money for such things. Using an IPSC-style timer is workable and cheap, but hasn't been acce...

Re: PTO/Interest
In this regard, I notice that there are several clubs still running NRA International Pistol matches, but not USAS/ISSF. I understand the collegiate thing and applaud it, but does anyone know why clubs running non-collegiate matches have not converted over to USAS? What Larry said. I was a USAS mem...

Re: Pardini SP .22lr - what is it worth used?
Someone wants to sell me a used Pardini SP .22lr. While I do not know the age of this pistol it appears to be in good condition and comes in a plastic black case with red writing on it. It is the model with the silver stripes on the side. It comes with 2 magazines - no scope or scope mount & or...

Looks like the price of new times has gone up since I last got one. They seem to start at around $100 and go up from there depending on features...still a lot cheaper than turning targets. Here are links to some of the major IPSC timers. The first link an article reviewing a few. http://www.sportsho...

Stan Pace is right. Lots of NRA bullseye types are more likely to get involved if they can be competitive with their sport pistols. Heck, I'm one of the guys who tried it against people with dedicated .22short RF guns; there was no way I was going to buy a GPE or OSP for only one sport. But since I ...

Why No US Rapid Fire Shooters?
How come the U.S. didn't have a rapid fire shooter? What happened to Mr. Bickar and Mr. McNally?

Re: Please explain impact of Rapid Fire rule changes
Hi all, I'm an AP guy who would like to understand all the chat about Rapid Fire. Which of the rule changes are causing equipment changes and how will the equipment change? Thanks. Can't use .22 short guns with ported barrels and extended sight radius. Basically, the requirements are the same as Sp...

Dryfiring a 1911 won't cause serious permanent damage. While I have heard that it is possible to break a firing pin as suggested above, I've never seen it, nor talked to anyone who has had it happen to them personally. I wouldn't worry about increased wear of the firing pin spring at all. Regardless...

Use round ball. The conicals nave never been noted for accuracy. Walk down the line at a World Muzzle-Loading Championships when the Colt or Mariette events are being shot, and 95%+ of the competitors are using round balls. Interesting. Why is that? Perhaps conicals deform when being loaded while r...
