Re: IZh35M going full-auto..

I have a almost new IZH35M which I picked up second-hand a few years ago. It used to misbehave with every sort of .22 ammunition by machine-gunning - no doubt that being the reason for sale and just about brand new condition. I've been taking off the faintest trace of metal from the breech face by ...

Re: GSP500

I'd rather have a Walther KSP200 (pretty IZH-35). There's an idea; the patent has probably expired, and it's not like anyone is going to get any from Russia for awhile.

Re: Why do Olympic air gun shooters grip their guns so awkwardly?

The more you can rely on bones, cartilage & ligament; the less on muscles & tendons, the better. Of course if somebody is just looking for an argument, perhaps we can examine "What color is the sky?" Which makes sense, but when I tried raising my shoulder to my cheek, I found that...

Re: import

By Federal law, it's not considered a firearm, so no problems having it shipped right to your house vs having to import via a Federal Firearms License holder and dealing with firearms importing rules. The only snag you might run into is whether you'll have to pay an import tax on it. You can look it...

Re: Recommendations of gunsmith for 1911 in SF bay area?

Thanks to all the respondents. I have modified my goal to a 2.5 lb trigger. Is that a realizable goal? Thanks DocDerm Like I said, 1.5-2.0 is imminently achievable...you're just asking the wrong crowd. You can probably get a 2.5lb crisp trigger with a good drop-in hammer/sear/disconnector kit, like...

Re: Recommendations of gunsmith for 1911 in SF bay area?

For 1.5-2.0lb 1911 triggers, you're probably not going to find folks on here who know much about them. They'll probably think it can't be done reliably or that it'd be dangerous. You'll want to talk to gunsmiths for folks who shoot USPSA/IPSC, where such trigger pulls are routine. Probably best to t...

Re: Pros and Cons of Electronic Trigger

The whole saga of Walther free pistols with electronic triggers and the lack of support after they were discontinued soured me on electronic triggers. Any part in a mechanical trigger can be made by a decent gunsmith...no gunsmith is going to be able to copy thin, printed circuit boards. I would hat...

Re: Is Free Pistol dead now? Standard?

The bigger issue is a lack of available ranges and clubs where shooters can actually train. What difference does it make if there's one or two big matches 1000 miles away or more? Does it make sense to travel to these events when you can't even realistically prepare for them? It doesn't seem to me ...

Qualification then Finals Format? (spoiler alert)

What do folks think about this Qualification round, then elimination Finals format? Looking at the results of the men's 10m AP, the qualifying round results of the top 8 ranged from 578-21x to 586-28x. In the Finals, the two folks to shoot 586s ended up 6th and 7th. Meanwhile, the bottom three folks...

I'm not opposed to it, but so far, I haven't felt the need to file or add to it. I gotta admit, I'd feel better filing off than adding putty.

Re: Walther SSP-E or Pardini SP

I suppose the easier dryfire is a benefit. With the Pardini, you need to use a provided barrel plug and recock the gun after each trigger pull. If you're in Europe and only using it with iron sight only disciplines, have you also looked at the SAM MG2 and FAS 6007?

Re: Walther SSP-E or Pardini SP

The Pardini is popular because it's a design that works reliably, has been around for a while, and has very good support here in the U.S. The Walther looks nice, but I'd be leery about the reliability and longevity of electronic triggers (particularly since Walther specifically has a history of not ...

Re: Pardini 32 ACP Barrel Liner

Hard to argue with Dave's barrel tester. If you are seriously concerned about your barrel, maybe you can talk Dave into testing it for you. Nobody questions that the barrel can be accurate. The problem is it is only accurate with *one* specific make/model of bullet...unless you go through all sorts...

Re: Pardini 32 ACP Barrel Liner

I wonder if having a new barrel made with a faster twist rate to ensure bullets (and heavier bullets) were stabilized out to 50 yards, tighter bore diameter, and chambered for .32acp from the start (rather than taking an unchambered .32s&w barrels and chambering them for .32acp) would result in ...
