Re: cross eye dominate

1.) Free advice on the internet is just amazing! Shoot left handed Really?! 2.) Sergei Martynov, Eric Uptagrafft, and Dennis Lindenbaum :) (me) are all left-eye dominant and do just fine shooting right handed. 3.) What color blinder did your daughter try using? Much harder with white than black for ...

Re: Relation between eye relief and rear aperture size

As KennyB posts that there is probably nothing to worry about in terms of parallax error, what he doesn't relate is that he is an incredibly skilled shooter who has a high degree of consistency in his set-up and process. Although the author of the cited article on parallax suppression dismisses the ...

Roger - It is all but impossible to give someone fit advice online. Rifles, parts installed and anatomies vary way too much. You can find someone doing well with almost every variation that can be imagined and constructed. FWIW, I have the buttplate well inward toward my chest and positioned above a...

It's not complicated. Show driver license at gate. Rifles on base are not an issue. They won't ask, but if the guard inquires, just tell them you are going to competition at Pool Range. Air building is next to it on left side. Once on base, drive for awhile on main road and I believe you turn at fir...

Thanks for responses.

Alan - If the sensor is moved along the axis of the barrel and remains at the same distance from the barrel center, I do not see why there would be "angular error" introduced.

SCATT Observation

While experimenting, I noticed a few things of interest. My rifle has a 27" barrel and in the past I placed the barrel sensor almost directly under the front sight. Recently, I added an 8" tube/tuner setup and moved the sensor forward. First, I placed it again near the front sight and noti...

Thanks Johan - I recall the discussion from early last year. We were all asking the same questions then as now. I think Rob will disagree, but a number of people with good street cred have found similar baseline artifact in the SCATT trace readings with the rifle at full rest. Reasons postulated for...

Rob -

Thanks. I wrongly assumed the poster was shooting at 50 M target. Couldn't grasp how those trace lengths were so small.

Rob - Trace length under 10??? I have placed my rifle on a rest several times and with careful attention to detail have not been able to get any trace below 17/18. This is at 10 meters distance using 50 meter target. I see slight movement on the trace with the rifle just at rest. Others have told me...

In a word, no. I live here and know the environment pretty well. Ole Mill range in Griffin will be closest and only option for organized activities. However, advantage of AP is you can practice anywhere there is a hallway, basement, etc and a small pellet trap. If you want to shoot other pistol (.22...

Tim - I reside in the Atlanta, Ga area; not far from Ft Benning. AMU shooters compete at our range often due to proximity and I have shot at Benning a number of times. By far, the two most frequently used rear sights are the Anschutz (with the big bulky block body) and Al Warner's. I have never seen...

Probably more useful when you consider differences in sight radius due to different barrel or extension tube lengths. May benefit from a thicker ring option if aperture is way out there. But then, no two eyes are the same, not even your own.

Actually, it is a big consideration and not as described. Various buttplate wings will flatten out. One of the exceptions is the Bleiker which is stout and has a very strong attachment mechanism. Some of the plates will just have the screws strip out when tightened significantly. Part of the issue i...

How well do the upper or lower wings of the Gemini plate hold up to the recoil of fullbore rifles? Any tendency to flatten out?

One shot to calibrate for distance. One sighter and move the point of impact to zero. Continue shooting. I can't imagine anything more simple. Less involved than live fire with cold barrel, foulers, etc.
