I am certain that in the past a rule stated that the notch on a pistol rear sight must not be narrower at the top than the bottom, but when that was dropped I do not know. The same rule also referred to U shaped notches as being allowed.
It could have been as long ago as ISU or UIT.

Considering the difference in the layout of the two tables, I would suggest that the Pistol and Rifle committees do not talk to each other.

Weight doesn't bother me. I'm strong enough to hold it up. And putting it here on the grip right on at the CG should have least impact. No? jab Air pistol is not a weight training exercise but it is an endurance event with 60 shots plus sighters plus aborted shots so a large amount of weight added ...

Agree that most shooters at competitions do the right thing - most, but not all...
April 1st would be more suitable ;-)

I use an old toothbrush, If that doesn't get it of it won't come off. It's worked for over 50 years for me. On second thoughts I used to black my sights using a 'GunSmoke' (calcium carbide and water giving a sooty acetylene flame) therefore there was no carry over of oil or wax from a smokey flame t...

How does that work when barrels must be held vertically when testing the trigger? ;-)

If the flag is visible at both ends it would still have to be 'waggled' to prove that it is continous ;-)

Re: Torino 2013 World Masters Games.

It seems very confusing - they list the pistol events, then below, say No ISSF events. - so is there Pistol shooting or not? Alex L. I assume that should read "Non ISSF events" judging from what is written under that heading ;-) I am hoping to be there, the last one I shot was in 1989, bu...

I shot with a bog standard BSA MkII International (second hand) in the 1962 GB Olympic trials and got knocked out in the quarter finals with a 583, I made a 586 in an earlier round. BTW that was without a shooting jacket just a thick sweater (and trousers), so there is nothing wrong with the gun. As...

Stopping stray pellets

Any thick cloth will do the job (old curtains) but it must be hanging loosely otherwise it will act like a drum skin and the pellets will come back nearly as fast as they went. That applies to wadcutter pellets at target shooting velocities, round nose pellets and higher velocities will of course pe...

I would rather not have another large pressure vessel around the house....dive tanks don't often fail, but when they do (as happened not that long ago in Ontario, to a long time airgun guy) they can do a lot of damage.... There were how many starters in RF? They could handle five times as much in SP, on the same range. Incidentally, the Olympic range firing point was set up to only use targets 1, 2, 4 & 5 on a bank for 25m Pistol. The angles were therefore negligable. My point exactly, 20% less firing points. Re...

Surely an extra line or two of code for RFP Finals could show the 'hit zone' instead of all the integer scoring rings The Finals Hall screens had 2 concentric circles; one for the hit zone and the other for the black. A hit turned the circles black with a white cross showing the shot placement. A m...

If it were not for RF then the targets could be on the same spacing as the FPs, then without the gaps between ba...

Re: new finals

So, u break your butt to get into the final only to have your score wiped out The finals format? That's a good argument. Especially with a 9.7 being a hit...which leaves everybody asking what's up? I could see a 10/miss final. But there is a good argument for going back. Does Usain Bolt have to car...
