IOC Shooting

Just remember that there are a biilion people in India, a billion people in China and another 500m+ in the rest of Asia who have discovered shooting over the last 10 to 20 years. They DO like winning medals, they are achieving in the sport that does not require muscle, power or fleetness of foot. An...

Spread Sheets

The comments about scores on their own not being that useful is correct in my opinion as well. The key to progress are trends. Is the shooter trending upwards? If they are in any way, then progress is assured. How to trend it? I use running averages of 3 or 5 scores. This automatically takes out the...

Table for SH1

Check out the photos on the Benning World Cup. Photo 292 and 299. Greg Reid from New Zealand on the right in 292. I built this table. The legs screw onto bolts through the table. The front legs of the table telescope over the back legs of the table (saves space). Likewise for the chair legs. I have ...

Air Pumps Moisture

Here is a quick back-of-the-envelope calculation of how much water might be inserted into a cyclinder on a fill. Lets assume the 215 cc cylinder is empty. Lets assume we pump it up to 3000 psi. This is 200 atmospheres (200x15psi=3000) Lets ssume the temp is 20 deg C (about 72F) and 50% releative hum...

Iris changing size

You are right about it being your iris. As you look around the eye responds to the light conditions by opening and closing the iris. More light iris closes. The iris is in front of the lens in your eye. As the iris (which is the pupil as well) closes, the effect of the lens becomes less and less. Wh...

Cricket Bags

DLIndon: You need educating in the Gentlemanly Game of Cricket!!! Cricket: You have two sides, one out in the field and one in. Each man that's in the side that's in goes out, and when he's out he comes in and the next man goes in until he's out. When they are all out, the side that's out comes in a...

Rumour of new shooting formats in ISSF

Heard a rumour that new rules for (at least prone) is that sighters will be fired in a set time at the start of the match, a short break then 50 minutes for the 60 shots. Heard also that 3P 3x40 will be all without a break like the women 3x20. Notice the rapid fire pistol now the qualifying score is...

The finals at the Olympics are indoors. No wind.

In fact it is becoming a requisite to have a Finals Hall for big events.

And yes, My watching of the finals shows the place is full for all the events I have seen.

Prone - vertical

Possible source is inconsistent butt plate position in the shoulder. Most important you are not tempted to alter the lelevation by sliding the buttplate up and down on the shoulder. I advocate elevation changes should be done from behind the shoulder. That is, move the body. Ensure breath is comfort...

Glasses

I recommend shooting glasses. Some like the small lens, I favour the big ones. I suggest buying the basic Knobloch ones because they are plain wire. Not screw devices for raising and lowering stuff. Real basic. AND the wire can be bent to fit YOU. (Note: On all glasses periodically check the wee scr...

One of the best ways of checking progress is to note every score but not to graph every score. Set up a column that has the raw scores. Next to it, 3 cells down, put in "=average(sum of cell, cell2 & cell3). Grab the corner and drag down to the bottom of the scores. That should give a colum...

Curse!!!!! I went looking for the sling and I think I see what you mean. They use the mid part of the lsing in prone and leave the handstop in the kneeling position. Could modify any sling by just taping up the sling at the appropriate spot. I did notice there were the old doubel point slings still ...

Just to clarify something. Is the shot hitting the trace screen near the target or are you in "Zero Mode"? If the shot is anywhere inside the "Zero Mode" circle, the unit is OK. If the shot is registering on the target but not in the inner. That is, if you shoot a group they are ...
