If an athlete already has won a quota place then they cannot compete in another event for a quota place. One athlete, one quota place. If an athlete has an MQS already in one event and it happens to be the event they won the quota place in, then it is pointless to put them into the event as either t...

I would seriously suggest you contact Disability Shooting here:

http://www.dtsgb.org.uk/

In fact if you get into your car and drive to Stoke Mandeville there is an IPC disabled shooting World Cup going on RIGHT NOW!!!

You could even talk to the classifiers as well.

A quick check of the paper reveals it would be useless for shooting. The term "telescopic" is used because it uses reflective and refractive surfaces to bend the light rays to the parts of the retina that haven't been damaged and produce a slightly enlarged image. The "aperture" ...

Grzegorz You missed the interesting bit. Jeroen sampled 19 different pellet batches. The two averages are the average of the first 10 pellets of the 19 groups, and the second is the average of the second 10 pellets of the 19 groups. A tad more than "2 lots of 10 shots". So, yes, I think Je...

Good to see Swat has found my article. Heh. I have to discuss Rob's comments on head wind tail wind on the bullet. I have searched high and low for evidence of perfect head wind or tail wind to have the effect he suggests. That is, head wind raising the shot. I have seen an instance where it appeare...

A few years ago I rewrote a shooting diary for my shooters. I emailed Dan and asked if I could use some of his notes. He willingly abliged. So it is good to see that it has been saved!!. Ta Spencer.

Here in New Zealand we tried biathlon style events for a few years. I liked them! We ran it for a few years at the smallbore 50m nationals as the last event of the week. About 500m run, 5 shots, 500m run, 5 shots ending with a 500m run. We had spotters watching the shooter who shot prone and all the...

First thing I do with the air rifles is to add weight as far back as possible so that with the support hand under the rifle and in position the rifle will be slightly back heavy. If this can be achieved it means the CoG is over or inside the feet. This means that the shooter is not lifting the rifle...

1907. Old barrel. Question I would ask: was it clean? I mean clean. How did you clean it? If I was doing this I would take "lead away" to it while watching with a bore scope to make sure all the lead in the chamber was got out. Watching is important because "lead away" is fine gr...

As an air rifle coach, I understand the benefit of having ANY seam ANYWHERE near the lower part of the support arm and elbow as being advantageous. Anyone who suspects or argues otherwise does not appreciate the "cheating" benefit. Any tiny extra support that holds the arm or elbow in plac...

My thoughts on losing low or high shots are as follows: 1. Lifting of the forearm to bring rifle onto the target after breathing out. This is a fault of many beginners and one that can creep into the most experienced. The mental anguish of trying to wean oneself off the near unconcious lifting can t...

Have a shifty at this. I wrote it a few years back and recently I got a request for a person from Poland who wanted permission to translate it!! I have posted it here before. Marcus' comment about lubrication is sound. I have seen bolts having to be opened by 4 strong men and a horse. Merely from the back of the bolt handle having welded itself against the action. It is truly amazing what a smidgeon of oil does!!! Aim the penetrating oil around the part of the bolt handl...
