I would be interested in anyone who has kept some really good 60 shot macthes (air rifle or 50m) and have their XY plots. Given the need to keep the group small and maximise the decimal score, it has been discovered that the samllest outside to outside group may not necessarily be the best way to pi...

Looks like there are two pieces in there. Here's a suggestion. Take out the back one. Leave the front one in. Now put the equivalent weight of the back one in lead and attach it as far back on the rifle as possible. The opposite side of the cheek piece or under the cheek piece if it is lifted a wee ...

Good idea. Sure there are 356 ways of skinning a cat.

Put a file up here and lets see what happens.

Hi Big Al, I am also a fullbore shooter. I realise the advantage of plotting. I also am aware of the PlotOmatic. All the points you make are spot on. That was my point. Some people don't do that. They will adjust after every shot as if the group was the width of the bullet. You are dead right about ...

Some crazy ideas... Ideas for the left hand. Kenny B has the right idea. Get the fore end onto the base of the thumb as in his picture. You can straighten the hand out a bit then. Handstop. It seems there are lots (?) of folk who like to push the webbing between the thumb and hand into the handstop....

I've got no problem with discussing gun control. As long as you see it my way. Nazi. See I've Godwined it in one. That might close the discussion. (PS: That is a joke for those who need it spelt out. Please do not respond with guns un-holstered.) 1. IF the discussion goes ahead, just remember the 2n...

This is an interesting topic. In fact I LOVE this topic. Here is my philosophy. It is based on group and centering of it. I ask my shooters to keep an eye on at least the last 3 shots. Keep a mental note of the direction of each from the centre. First question the shooter asks themselves is "Di...

100-125 foot candles are some weird unit that is only used in a small far away land called the United States. :-) The rest of the world use the term Lux. 10.7 lux = an old foot candle. So the light levels are around 1000 - 1300 lux. Spot on. So IPShooter, that amount of light on the target is what D...

The reflector.

An option could be to darken the upper part of the reflector and make the bottom part shiny. This MAY reduce the light to the top and MAY increase the light to the bottom.

This is an intuitive guess. But not as good an idea as having different LEDs within the reflector i feel.

Nuff said.

I am sure this will evoke some comment. :-) The comment about live firing on SCATT (or Noptel) has come up before. As one person alluded to above - it is NOT an electronic target! I have tried setting up SCATT and electronic targets and it is frustrating for me as a coach let alone for the shooter!!...

Spencer noted: "-the fall off of light level between the top and bottom of the target face seems more noticeable with the new lights in the same gooseneck fittings." That comment elicited (in my feeble brain) an interesting idea that LED lighting effects may be usefully applied to these ty...

D65 as described in this wiki article is light with a colour temperature of 6500K. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Illuminant_D65 It is the "Open Air" standard lighting. There is a nice GIFF showing how the spectrum changes as the temperature increases. Note how the peak shifts further to the...

I have had them for ever. They are more prevalent in Indoor shooting. But still present in outdoor. I now use them to an advantage as they begin to pass over the foresight. The instant that they pass over gives one of the clearest sight pictures you can get. When I see one floating down, I get ready...

Yes, any "flashing" light in the room can affect the SCATT. The light signals are flashing from the SCATT and if they get overridden by light modulations they can screw up the system. This can include fluorescents as well. Especially the phosphors with the short time constant. The new LED ...

I have spent years playing with glasses. One thing I have always done is use the same optician throughout. That way we get to know each other and I insist he feeds back to me what he thinks of what I am feeding him. Eventually we get to testing my eyes. I take a target with me and stick it on the wa...
