My older Kowa focuses down to 10 yds. I have the 25X EER eyepiece (extended eye relief) - you do not have to take your glasses off to use nicely.

This is the short story.

I've always use ATF (automatic transmission fluid). Can't hurt any seals or o-rings. Transmission are full of o-rings and nylon type devices, switches, and normally run at about 250 F degrees. ATF is really benign.

Marky, I'm with you on the bending beam torque wrenches. Nothing is more consistent/accurate as a bending beam torque wrench - or for that matter gravity type powder scales. I'm old school and have seen/read all the issues with the more "modern" devices. Phooey! I don't want unneeded drama...

Did you look at the stock on ebay? It was 99 bucks. It was not an universal, but would allow you to modify it without destroying the value in your rifle. There are stock workers out there that could turn it into what you want.

To the original poster. There is a FWB 300 stock on ebay for sale. 99.00 I think. You can experiment on that if you want.

You might want to contact Jim E. about trade for a Universal model. This way you can remove and replace the comb without destroying anything. Don't whittle on that one.

It might cost you a few bucks, .....but right now you are backed into a corner with no good way out.

Nano, There is such a thing as a “junior” 300 model. Jim E. posts here all the time and sometimes has one for sale. Let him know that you would prefer a Universal model if possible. It has the adjustable cheek-piece and makes a world of difference. Not sure if the junior model has this option or not...
